Boondoggles and their champions
Huhne wants you to be poor for no good reason. Due to gang green solutions that don't work (toxic biofuels, hot air wind energy, solar, carbon credits) and pick-pocket, unjustifiable green levies and taxes the cost of living has incresed to the point the UK is practically the worst place in Europe to live (although along with the approaching ice age, maybe it slows the flood of  foreigners immigrating?) not least because of the 20% or so surcharge on energy (and what is petrol tax nowadays, over 65% of the pump price) and the cascade effect on the price of food and manufactured goods.

U.K.'s `Untouched' Power Market Relies Too Much on Natural Gas, Huhne Says
Britain’s electricity market, “left untouched” by government regulations, would rely too much on gas and neglect other fuels needed to limit emissions and price volatility, the minister in charge of energy said today.
The U.K. government said it will set out steps later this year, such as guaranteeing electricity capacity, establishing a minimum cost of emitting carbon-dioxide and obliging energy suppliers to source low-carbon power such as wind and nuclear, to help attract investment.
“The current market framework is not fit to deliver the investment we need,” Chris Huhne, U.K. secretary of state for energy and climate change, said today in published remarks from a speech later today in London to the Confederation of British Industry. “Left untouched, the electricity market would allow a new dash for gas, increasing our dependence on a single fuel, and exposing us to volatile prices.” /continues

Volatile is code for affordable. Gas for the foreseeable future will be cheap due to abundance (hundreds of years worth not least from shale gas across Europe and the UK) and ease of recovery. In the US they have slowed production due to market saturation. Funny that biofuel production doesn't respond the same way, the US wants to flood Europe with their surplus again. Gang green business, lobbies and manic subsidy/regulation at its height of counter productivity.

At a minimum construction cost of £3 million per MW of offshore capacity, the total cost of this foolishness will be not less than £66 billion. (Add to that the cost of infrastructure upgrade, £22bn and smart meters and their attendants)

Where is the money coming from? Unlimited bankster credit.
It won't be just the grand kids paying for the coalitions' follies, it will be their grand children. The government is delivering the UK into debt slavery en masse, for generations.

Is WE a reasonable way to control the climate or a fraudulent boondoggle? It doesn't reduce or cause CO2 emissions to be reduced, it doesn't lessen fossil fuel dependence and it doesn't provide a replacement for traditional energy sources in that it requires at least 90% in reserve as coal energy plants on standby. It is eye wateringly expensive. It delivers 8% of capacity in usable energy.
Its main claim to exist, CO2 reduction is BS. More than the fact it doesn't reduce emissions, there are reasons to justify more CO2 emissions that outweigh hypothesised harm (STILL waiting for evidence of harm).

Dr Hal in his resignation letter to the APS alarmist physical society
For reasons that will soon become clear my former pride at being an APS Fellow all these years has been turned into shame, and I am forced, with no pleasure at all, to offer you my resignation from the Society.
It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford's book organizes the facts very well.) I don't believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.
So what has the APS, as an organization, done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it.

So there you have it. We have ludicrous energy bills and pay extra income tax for wind farms that exist because this, the previous 2 governments and the EU's EC support a scam. That makes Huhne an ongoing accessory to the biggest crime of all time.

Food prices may rise by up to 20%, warns UN [as mentioned in an earlier post]
Poor harvests put global food reserves under pressure, with African and Asian countries likely to be worst hit

My comment to the Guardian article
It is time to put an end to the biofuel from food nonsense. Without maniacal biofuel legislation and subsidies there would be none of the shortages.
The logic in compelling the use of biofuels defies reason. Their production and combustion is responsible for far more real pollution than petrol and use of 20 times more water than Diesel production, they already caused an increase in starvation numbers due to their effect on food prices before the latest hike, plus damage to rainforests and they are still 3 times more expensive than petrol per energy unit even after subsidies.
Their only saving grace is that they cause up to 400 times greater CO2 emission than that of petrol and so contribute to an increase in crop yield that will help feed  the additional several billion mouths expected over the coming decades.

U.K. pays millions in settlement with ex-Guantanamo detainees
Britain has agreed to pay hefty settlements to a group of former Guantanamo Bay detainees who sued the government for alleged complicity in their torture - one of the first big pay-outs stemming from the US-led war on terrorism.
After months of legal wrangling, Britain's spy agencies chose to settle the lawsuit to avoid a pricey and prolonged court case in which open testimony from secret agents could have jeopardized national security, a British government official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday.
At least seven former detainees would receive payments and at least one man would receive more than one million pounds ($1.6-million), according to a second source who has seen details of the weekend settlement and spoke on condition of anonymity because lawyers agreed that the details would be kept confidential.

WTF. Why is public money being given away? These court gifts should be paid from the bank accounts of those responsible.

Payback begins
People Power! Furious protesters march on home of Anglo-Irish Bank CEO Sean FitzPatrick
Angry protesters gathered at the home of disgraced former banker Sean FitzPatrick to demand he be thrown in jail.
However, gardai almost outnumbered protesters after a rumoured 400 marchers failed to show up.
Instead, around 30 protesters marched on the home of the former Anglo Irish Bank chief, close to Greystones Golf Club.
A source close to the FitzPatricks confirmed they were abroad, believed to be in a property owned by the family.
"He is rarely in the house now," the source said. "Sean still thinks he has done nothing wrong."
The protest, organised by the Right to Work campaign, began on the main street in Greystones, Co Wicklow. Outside the gates of FitzPatrick's home, James O'Toole, chairman of the campaign, said the protest was not just about the now-bankrupt banker, but about the upper classes who had escaped financial pain.
"Sean FitzPatrick is just indicative of the whole rich classes in the country who haven't been touched," he said.
Mr O'Toole called on authorities to jail the banker.

The banksters (in cahoots with politicians) are to blame for supplying ultra cheap credit giving the false aura that times were good. The goyim (cattle) are waking up, they are learning who, how and why. Better late than never. Banksters and their purchases beware.

You can criticise the president (or prime minister, even royalty) and call him any name you wish without consequence. Have a non PC opinion of Israel and its Zionist government and you are censured and punished. As with the US so for the UK. Jews (rather than semites that includes Arabs) have greater protection under the law than natives and zionists hide behind it using the ignorance of judges who don't know that zionism is an agenda not a religion, let alone a jewish religion.

Government refuses to back net neutrality

Ed Vaizey, the communications minister, has given the green light to internet service providers to favour some internet traffic over other content – as long as they inform customers.
The decision will be a blow to net neutrality campaigners, who want all internet traffic to be treated equally by internet service providers.

How soon before the Internet gets hijacked by censors? Once it becomes merely a matter of money, the door is open for yet more media control by "government by banksters for banksters".

President or sock puppet?
An Electoral Upheaval, but Few Signs of Change
Some Democrats want President Obama to put himself in the driver’s seat rather than cooperate with the G.O.P.

If Obama's ass isn't owned by others, this is the perfect time for him to get out of the green swamp that is sucking the US down. He can hold his arms up and blame the GOP whilst cancelling everything to do with the gang green dogma. We need as much CO2 as possible to increase crop yields an av. 12% at 560ppm to feed the expected population additions. Repealing toxic biofuels subsidy and regulations would go a long way to easing food prices and could add a boost to the economy by decreasing the cost of living and raising living standards. Cancelling regulations and subsidies for counter productive wind farms would be another step in the right direction.
Or is the man serving the interests of lobbyists and banksters rather than serving the interests of joe gullible goyim public?

Russia says U.S. offers deal to arms suspect Bout
A Russian diplomat said on Thursday that U.S. authorities pressured suspected arms dealer Viktor Bout to admit guilt during his extradition flight to the United States, offering him unspecified benefits in return.
Bout, a former Soviet air force officer who could be imprisoned for life if convicted on U.S. terrorism and arms trafficking charges, rejected the offer, Russia's consul in the United States said in remarks shown on Russian state television.
Bout was flown to New York late on Tuesday from Thailand, where he had been the focus of a tug-of-war between Russia and the United States since his March 2008 arrest in a U.S.-led sting operation.
"Some pressure was applied in transit. In Viktor Bout's words, they tried to 'persuade' him to admit to things he did not do, promising certain advantages in return," consul Andrei Yushmanov told Russian reporters in New York.
"Viktor Anatolyevich rejected these efforts," he said, referring to the Russian suspect by his name and patronymic.

Viktor Bout Extradited: "Merchant of Death" Headed to U.S
. After 2 Year Tug-of-War with Russia
[...] Once the Thai courts finally ruled in favor of extradition Bout was allegedly whisked away by black-clad Thai commandos, without notifying Russian officials or even Bout's wife Anna, according to Russian officials and Bout's Thai lawyer.
There was even a decoy convoy to take him to the airport. Thai police said the 43-year-old was put aboard a plane that departed Bangkok at about 1:30 a.m. EST in the custody of eight U.S. officials. Bout wore a bulletproof vest and ballistic helmet over a blue track suit as he boarded the plane.

A Rational Discussion of Climate Change: the Science, the Evidence, the Response
U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and the Environment

On Wednesday, November 17, 2010 the Subcommittee on Energy and Environment of the House Committee on Science and Technology will hold a hearing entitled: “A Rational Discussion of Climate Change: the Science, the Evidence, the Response”. The Subcommittee will receive testimony on the basic science
underlying how climate change happens; the evidence and the current impacts of climate change; and the actions that diverse sectors are taking today to respond to and prepare for a changing climate.

Panel 1
* Dr. Ralph Cicerone is the President of the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Cicerone will explain the basic science, including the fundamental physics, underlying how climate change happens. He will also discuss the role of the National Academy of Sciences in advancing climate science and informing the public on the issue.
* Dr. Heidi Cullen is the CEO and Director of Communications at Climate Central. Dr. Cullen will discuss the basic science of climate change, including the fundamental chemistry, the causes of production of greenhouse gases; and the expected impacts on the climate.
* Dr. Gerald A. Meehl is a Senior Scientist in the Climate and Global Dynamics Division at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. Dr. Meehl will discuss the basic physics underlying how climate change happens and how the physics is incorporated into the development of the climate models.
* Dr. Richard Lindzen is the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Lindzen will discuss how greenhouse gas emissions resulting from human activities will only minimally contribute to warming. He will also discuss the limitations in the global climate models and the problems with the positive feedbacks built into the models.

Panel 2
* Dr. Benjamin Santer is an Atmospheric Scientist in the Program for Climate Model Diagnosis and Intercomparison at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Dr. Santer will discuss the evidence of climate change; how well the science validates that climate change is happening; and the computational climate models, including how the various climate data sets are utilized and analyzed.
* Dr. Richard Alley is the Evan Pugh Professor in the Department of Geosciences and an Associate of the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute at Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Alley will describe the effects of climate change on ice dynamics and explain how changes in levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have led to a rise in global temperatures.
* Dr. Richard Feely is a Senior Scientist at the Pacific Marine Environment Laboratory of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Dr. Feely will discuss the current science and understanding of ocean acidification, the factors that contribute to the acidification process, and the resulting impacts.
* Dr. Patrick Michaels is a Senior Fellow in Environmental Studies at the Cato Institute. Dr. Michaels will discuss the rate of greenhouse-related warming; the Endangerment Finding by the Environmental Protection Agency; and scientific integrity.

Panel 3
* Rear Admiral David Titley is an Oceanographer and Navigator for the United States Department of the Navy, Department of Defense. RADM Titley will discuss the impacts of climate change on U.S. Navy missions and operations, the national security implications of climate change, and the role of the U.S. Navy’s Task Force Climate Change.
* Mr. James Lopez is the Senior Advisor to the Deputy Secretary at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Lopez will discuss the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations and communities; HUD’s proposed Sustainable Communities Initiative; and how the Department is working to improve the coordination of transportation and housing investments to ensure more regional and local sustainable development patterns, more transit-accessible housing choices, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
* Mr. William Geer is the Director of the Center for Western Lands for the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership. Mr. Geer will discuss the threat of climate change to hunting and fishing; its impacts on fish and wildlife; and how the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership is responding to the impacts of climate change.
* Dr. Judith Curry is the Chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Curry will discuss how uncertainty in data and conclusions is evaluated and communicated. She will also discuss how this uncertainty should be incorporated into decisionmaking efforts.

Read the full charter to see how the word ‘rational’ really is inappropriate - it is clearly a biased series of panels with 75% alarmists. You can see the testimony on the site link here. Pay most attention to the testimony of Lindzen, Michaels and Curry, the only rational and knowledgeable members of the panels. The others are on a mission to preserve funding for their continued obfuscation efforts. Cicerone has accelerated the decline of the NAS, Cullen is a know-nothing as she proved so well at TWC and now working for George Soros at Climate Central, Santer is a manipulative modeler who single handedly overode the scientific conclusions of the real scientists in the second IPCC report, Meehl is riding the NCAR gravy train. Alley had a brain freeze years ago.

Accompanying text by Alan Caruba The Day Global Warming Ended

We know that if AGW existed we would have longer growing seasons and shorter wet winters. We don't see them. What does alarmist (rent seeking) post modern science come up with?
Global Warming could cool down temperatures in winter Model product of course.
Any fool knows turbulent, shortening growing seasons with brief hot spells and lengthening, colder winters are evidence of cooling, the alarmists repetitively informed us throughout the warming cycle (that ended in 1995, plateauing then cooling from 2003).
Most people that look know the Arctic vortex (AO) reversed mood after a long period in positive (warm/low pressure) mode. It occurred in sync with a reversal of the N. Pacific and N. Atlantic oscillations that all together give the N. hemisphere its climate. The reversal of the AO also caused the jet stream to move south, increasing the distance travelled and that led to it stalling for a while and that produced the Asian flooding and Russian hot weather.

Many scientists believe that, although the earth has been in a natural warming phase for the past 150 years, it has not heated as much as Government archives claim. The precise trend figure is extremely important, as it forms the sole basis of the claim that human activities are the dominant cause of the warming.
