Breaking News: Independent Inquiry will counter Canada’s latest attempt to cover up the Disappeared
December 15, 2015
International Tribunal will investigate “the Disappeared of Canada”, past and present, and lay criminal charges – Canada’s government, courts “too complicit” to conduct such an inquiry
London, New York, Ottawa:
A special inquiry into the disappearance of generations of indigenous people in Canada will commence on January 1, 2016, under the auspices of an international Tribunal of jurists and human rights groups.
The International Tribunal for the Disappeared of Canada (ITDC) will be established under the law of nations as an investigative legal body with the power to subpoena and prosecute. Its creation is necessitated, according to its mandate, “because of the inability of the Canadian government or its courts to neutrally and effectively investigate crimes in which they are complicit”.
The new Tribunal will be allied and work with families of the disappeared and grassroots community groups across Canada to ensure that “the entire truth is revealed concerning why aboriginal people have been targeted for extermination for generations, and to criminally charge the forces responsible in competent courts of justice.”
The ITDC was established in response to the Canadian government’s recent announcement of its own “Missing Women’s Inquiry”, and in the wake of Canada’s efforts to officially conceal its historic genocide of Indians through a stage-managed “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” (TRC).
“Experience has shown that when faced with human rights crimes within their own borders, Canadian governments of every political persuasion rely on very restricted and controlled in-house ‘inquiries’ designed to conceal more than they reveal” commented a spokesman for the Tribunal today in London.
“We have no confidence that the presence of a few token aboriginal figureheads to head this latest state-managed ‘Inquiry’ into missing women will yield anything more than did the previous cover-up known as the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which charged no organization or individual with a crime despite their admitted responsibility for the death of thousands of children.”
Commencing in January, the ITDC will be opening three Canadian field offices in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Toronto, and will issue regular progress reports to the media and public in the course of its investigations. The Tribunal will build upon the work of previous independent inquiries into genocide and missing people across Canada, and anticipates the release of its own official “counter report” to the Canadian government’s TRC and its upcoming “Missing Women’s Inquiry”.

Martin Shkreli, "Hated", "Price Gouging" Biotech Mogul Arrested For Securities Fraud

Zero Hedge
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/17/2015The “most hated man in America” just got arrested for securities fraud.
"Pharmaceutical entrepreneur Martin Shkreli was arrested by the FBI on Thursday," Reuters, whose reporters apparently witnessed the arrest, says.
Shkreli, the baby faced, former Jim Cramer protege and serial biotech mogul who famously raised the price of a toxoplasmosis drug by 5000% in September, igniting a media and political firestorm in the process, is accused of using Retrophin (a company he founded and ran until he was ousted by the board) as a kind of slush fund. As an aside, you’re reminded that Retrophin once raised the price of a drug used to treat a rare condition that causes reoccurring kidney stones from $1.50 a pill to $30.
Retrophin claims that after Shkreli’s hedge fund, MSMB Capital, went bust after a $7 million loss on a “disastrous” trade with Merrill Lynch four years ago, he used a series of complex transactions involving Retrophin to pay back MSMB’s investors.
“Retrophin sued Shkreli in August for misuse of company funds,” Bloomberg recounts. The company “claims he engineered numerous transactions between investors in MSMB and the biotechnology firm.”

Sour grapes from a crook who got caught. Takes one to know one.

"Despite speculation that "Tyler Durden" is a pseudonym of Daniel Ivandjiiski, who was penalized for insider trading in New York in September 2008, Ivandjiiski denies being a founder of Zero Hedge. Rather, he says he is one of several writers contributing to the site under the pseudonym.
The site was described by CNNMoney as offering a "deeply conspiratorial, anti-establishment and pessimistic view of the world".
Matt Taibbi, in his book Griftopia, cites Zero Hedge in the last chapter as accurately assessing the level of corruption in the banking industry and credits its inside advantage. He questions why mainstream financial media did not earlier detect the corruption at Goldman Sachs. Taibbi writes, "Right around that same time, there were three media stories that helped focus a swirl of seriously negative attention on the bank. My piece was one, New York magazine's Joe Hagan wrote another, and the third was a series of stories by a heretofore little-known blogger who went by the nom de plume of "Tyler Durden" on a blog called Zero Hedge." His reason for posting I guess. Small fish get shot in the barrel by the puppets of the big fish that never get touched.

The Zero Hedge site attracts a lot of knowledgeables, and himself finds plenty that's of interest, across the board. His knowledge of the markets seems quite extensive so if his getting caught is the reason for Zero Hedge, I've got no complaints.

Interesting nonetheless.

EU Sanctions on Russia to be Extended – No Veto or Discussion Allowed

Saker December 16, 2015 41 Comments
This article was originally written for Russia Insider: http://russia-insider.com/en/politics/eu-sanctions-russia-be-extended-no-veto-or-discussion-allowed/ri11858
In conversations with Russian news agency TASS EU diplomats and officials outline the undemocratic means whereby the decision to extend the sanctions will be imposed.
by Alexander Mercouris
Recently I wrote a piece for Russia Insider discussing how the EU really works.
I pointed out that the veto small states supposedly have over key EU decisions is a fiction.
Decisions are made by a small group who decide things between themselves and who because they control the EU’s bureaucracy can impose their decisions on everyone else.
An EU official – someone described as “close to the European Council” (the EU’s main policy making body) has basically confirmed as much in an interview with the Russian news agency TASS.
The subject discussed was the sectoral sanctions the EU has imposed on Russia, which are due to expire on 31st January 2016.
A political decision to extend the sanctions was made by the five big EU states – France, Germany, Italy, Britain and Spain – after consultations with the US at the G20 summit at Antaliya in Turkey.
Italy subsequently delayed announcement of this decision saying more discussion was needed.
In my piece I said Italy’s decision should not be taken seriously. The Italians were simply putting a marker down.
The source who has spoken to TASS has all but said the same thing. These are his words as TASS reports them:
“It is as simple as this: the EU Council has related the limiting measures with implementation of the Minsk accords.
It is not an issue to be discussed, it is a political objective we have now. By and large, the Minsk accords are not implemented as of today, thus sanctions are to be extended. They say, for another six months.

The Council is a Bilderberg NGO outfit headed by Rompuy and involving Soros, equivalent to the US' CFR that "advises" the US regime. An interface between the shadow government and the EU.

Washington's 'Plan B' in Syria: Renewed military intervention to oust Assad?

Finian Cunningham
RT 16 Dec, 2015 16:22
US top diplomat John Kerry appeared to offer cooperation during lengthy talks in Moscow this week with President Vladimir Putin. Kerry said that US policy was not trying to isolate Russia, neither was it seeking regime change in Syria.
Rhetoric aside, Kerry’s expressions of goodwill simply do not cut it.
During a walkabout in Moscow, the US Secretary of State chanced on a little Christmas shopping, with Kerry buying a Babushka stacking doll among other souvenirs. The iconic Russian doll containing six shelled figurines could serve as a metaphor for Washington’s elusive rhetoric.
Following his three-hour discussion with Putin, Kerry said: “While we don’t see eye to eye on every aspect of Syria, we see Syria fundamentally similarly.”
US government-owned media outlet Voice of America added: “He [Kerry] said the US and Russia identify the same challenges and dangers, and want the same outcomes [in Syria].”
That, to put it bluntly, is simply not true. Washington and Moscow do not see Syria fundamentally similarly nor want the same outcomes.
Washington wants regime change, no matter what Kerry may declare. From the outset of the conflict in Syria in March 2011, the Obama administration has been demanding that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “must go”.
Indeed, it is well documented that Washington and its NATO partners have been seeking regime change against Russia’s long-time Syria ally going back to 2007 during the George W Bush presidency. The whole foreign-backed war in the Arab country – resulting in 250,000 deaths and millions of refugees over the past five years – has been orchestrated for the precise purpose of destabilizing Syria.
Certainly, Kerry’s latest visit to Moscow marked a softening of the “Assad must go” line. Washington is now saying that the Syrian president may remain in office until a political transition is negotiated. But at the end of the so-called transition, the US still wants Assad gone, as Kerry again noted. That is regime change no matter how you slice it.
Like Kerry’s coy claim that the US is not trying “to isolate Russia as a matter of policy,” the bottom line is that Washington has imposed unilateral economic sanctions on Russia as a result of provable US regime change in Ukraine in February 2014, and cajoled its European allies to follow suit. Withdrawing unilaterally from arms control treaties and expanding NATO forces on Russian territory are hardly the actions of a party “not seeking isolation” of Moscow.
Washington sure wants regime change in Syria, just as former US General Wesley Clark disclosed back in 2007 – a policy that the American military-industrial complex formulated in 2001 following the 9/11 terror events. There is no reason whatsoever to believe that the same US hegemonic ambitions for the Middle East and beyond have changed under Obama.

30+ Iraqi soldiers killed, 20 injured after US airstrike - Iraqi MP cited by Sputnik

RT 18 Dec, 2015
More than 30 Iraqi soldiers have been killed and 20 more injured in an airstrike carried out by the US military, an Iraqi said in a statement cited by Sputnik.
“30 Iraqi servicemen from the 55th brigade of the Iraqi Army have been killed and 20 injured after an airstrike carried out by US aviation in the town of Al-Naimiya, Fallujah province,” Hakim al-Zamili, the head of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, said in a statement cited by Sputnik.
The death toll may rise as many Iraqi soldiers were heavily injured in the attack, the official said.
Al-Zamili said he called upon the Iraqi prime minister “to carry out an immediate investigation into the airstrike on the 55th brigade that earlier achieved success in battling” Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) militants.
According to the official, Iraq is going to go to court over the alleged airstrike.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said four Western coalition warplanes had been spotted over the Deir ez-Zor area in Syria on December 6, when a Syrian Army camp came under attack.
An airstrike on a field camp of the 168th Brigade of the 7th Division of the Syrian Army left four servicemen dead and 12 injured. It also destroyed three APCs and four vehicles bearing 12.7mm heavy machine guns.

US military reports 22 strikes against ISIS in Iraq, Syria
The US and its allies conducted 22 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in Iraq and Syria on Thursday, Reuters reported. Three strikes in two Syrian cities destroyed an IS mortar position and two fighting positions, the coalition said on Friday. In Iraq, 19 strikes in seven cities targeted tactical units and reportedly destroyed weapons, vehicles and a communications tower, among other targets.

US military in Syria violate sovereignty, not fighting terror – Damascus

RT 18 Dec, 2015 09:23
The actions of the US military in Syria are a violation of the latter’s sovereignty and not part of any anti-terrorist action, Syria’s deputy foreign minister says.
“We doubt that they [US troops] are sincere in their fight against terrorism. They do not coordinate their actions with the Syrian Army. This makes those forces illegal in Syria’s territory. One cannot say they are fighting terrorism,” Faisal al-Mikdad, Syria’s deputy foreign minister, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Fighting terrorism must be a practical task, not this advertising gig that the West is engaged in,” he added.
The diplomat spoke after Washington confirmed the deployment of special operations troops in Syria. US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter called on Thursday the first commando mission in Syria a success.
"I think the point is that it bore the fruit that we hoped it would," Carter told reporters after meeting with troops, commanders and Kurdish leaders in Irbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdish Autonomy.
Mikdad blasted Saudi Arabia for hosting a meeting of various forces seeking to oust the government in Damascus.
“Some of the participants that Saudi Arabia allowed to the conference are not really opposition. Others represented terrorist groups. We can only say that Syria does not negotiate with terrorists. The only place we meet them is the battlefield,” he said.

'Volatile Situation': NATO to Send Air Defense Package to Turkey

Sputnik 19.12.2015
Despite Turkey’s recent spate of aggressive military maneuvers, NATO allies agreed on Friday to provide Ankara with an air defense package.
As part of an agreement to defend NATO-member Turkey, the alliance has approved a plan to deploy aircraft and ships to Ankara.
"We have agreed on a package of assurance measures for Turkey in view of the volatile situation in the region," NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told Reuters.

Obama Urges Turkey’s Erdogan to Withdraw Military Forces from Iraq
The package will include AWACS surveillance planes and "enhanced air policing, and increased naval presence including maritime patrol aircraft," according to Stoltenberg. Ships will also be provided by Germany and Denmark.
When asked if the decision was about tightening control over Turkey’s haphazard management of its own airspace, Stoltenberg told Reuters: "This will give us a better situational awareness…more transparency, more predictability and that will contribute to stabilizing the situation in the region and also calm tensions."
Last month, Turkey came under international criticism after shooting down a Russian bomber in Syrian airspace. The incident left two Russian soldiers dead and threatened to derail relations between NATO and Russia.
Diplomats familiar with the latest decision told Reuters that the package is partly aimed at preventing similarly reckless incidents in the future. Military experts alluded to this reasoning on Thursday.

Lavrov: Syria Should Remain a United, Multi-Confessional State

Sputnik 19.12.2015
As the United Nations Security Council passes a resolution to end the five-year civil war in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov praised the agreement, while stressing the role of the Syrian people in determining their own future.
During the UN Security Council meeting in which the 15 member voted unanimously to approve new draft resolution for ending the Syrian conflict, Lavrov praised the agreement's potential for creating an opportunity to create a united anti-terrorism front.
"Today's unanimous vote in the Council should pave the way for the formation of a broad front against terrorism on the basis of the UN Charter, with the support of all on Earth who are opposed to terrorism, including the army of Syria, the Kurdish militia, and the armed forces of the Syrian patriotic opposition," Lavrov said. "The air force of the Russian Federation, at the request of the legitimate government of the Syrian Arab Republic, is contributing to the completion of this task."

No demands have yet been put forward by the gunmen who kidnapped members of Qatar's ruling family in Iraq, the Qatari daily Al-Raya reported on Saturday. They were abducted while hunting with falcons in a desert area of Iraq near the Saudi border earlier this week.
The newspaper quoted the source as saying that "it is still unclear who was behind the abduction and what the kidnappers' demands are."
The source said that negotiations on the release of hostages are being held by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Khalifa Al-Thani and Iraqi Interior Minister Mohammed Salem al-Ghabban.

Iran to Export 9 Tonnes of Enriched Uranium to Russia in Coming Days

Iran will export about 9 metric tons of enriched uranium to Russia in the next few days, head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said Saturday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, Salehi said that Iran had sold 9 tons of its enriched uranium to Russia in exchange for Russian uranium concentrate.
"In the next few days, about 9 tons of Iranian enriched uranium will be exported to Russia," Salehi was quoted by the Iranian IRNA news agency as saying.
Earlier this week, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that after the adoption of a resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors, Iran is expected to sell its enriched uranium to Russia and receive uranium ore in exchange.

I like his views on wind farms, and how nicely it frames the local authorities that got a really big bung from him.

Assad tells Porkies.
"The pictures show that thousands of prisoners died of fatal neglect, vicious abuse or straightforward murder by beatings or gunshots. Some images reveal groups of naked, emaciated bodies, each tagged with numbers, splayed on the dirt floor of a hospital garage. But because Caesar entrusted his grisly trove to Syrian opposition groups that publicised the atrocities via a London law firm hired by the government of Qatar, which is hostile to the Syrian regime, some have questioned its authenticity. “You can bring photographs from anyone and say this is torture,” said Bashar al-Assad, Syria’s president, in an interview earlier this year. “So it’s all allegations without evidence.
Such doubts should now be laid to rest. Following a six-month investigation that included dozens of interviews with former prisoners, defectors who had worked in Syrian military hospitals or intelligence agencies, forensic experts and families of the disappeared, Human Rights Watch (HRW), an independent watchdog group, says it is satisfied that the photos are indeed genuine. In a report published on December 16th it says that Caesar’s work suggests that Syrian officials should be tried for crimes against humanity.”

Re: Assad tells Porkies.
That would be the same HRW that has been caught lying on behalf of aggressors many times. Another fake charity propaganda outfit. How much do its bosses get paid, over the counter?

Russian Pork Pies.
"Moscow has increasingly, and with considerable success, targeted an anti-NATO and anti-U.S. audience. Jeremy Corbyn, newly elected leader of Britain's Labour Party, has frequently given interviews to RT and in 2014 was more than happy to repeat Putin's propaganda about "fascists" in Ukraine. He has been totally silent about serious human rights violations in a way disturbingly reminiscent of the myopia demonstrated by left-wing intellectuals during Joseph Stalin's repressions.
It is possible that democratic tools and the standard requirements for balanced journalism are simply incapable of dealing with virulent state-generated propaganda. Few people, for example, seriously believed Russia's attempts to shift blame after the Malaysia Airlines jet was shot down on July 17, 2014. This is not the case with the fire in Odessa that killed dozens of people in May 2014, nor even with regard to Russia's involvement in the Donbas.

Despite evidence from foreign media, U.S. sources, NATO and even Amnesty International, Western media reports invariably state only that Ukraine asserts Russian forces are there. Russia says they're not, and readers and viewers can take their pick.

The Kremlin has now chosen a particular course, and this is what the media follows. No one knows what will be decided tomorrow. Piecemeal alternatives to torrents of lies may make us feel we're achieving something, but severe sanctions against those who incite hatred and violence would save more lives".

Re: Russian Pork Pies.
For most of it, IF TRUE, it could be argued fighting fire with fire. Thing is, Amnesty is a propaganda front, NATO, well, Breedlove? Evidence from foreign media (Gore's al Jaz?), western media (BBC, man from Coventry?).
Russians were there. Retirees, volunteers and so on is what I heard. I know there are troops there now, but they're in Russian territory. Crimea. I expect Putin may not keep track of their activities in their time off.

Talk to me of all the UK forces that invaded Libya via Malta in civvies, the dead shipped back via Afghanistan etc.
UK planes bombing in Syria, special forces on the ground, no doubt the Black Nobility's MI6 there in bus loads after the house said no (the 1st time he sought permission to murder civilians and destroy infrastructure illegally).

That is major deception on the part of Cameron's regime. (Impeachment material but then he's just the stock manager.)
His propagandising and lies continue unabated.

ISIS stole sarin gas from Libya stores & has already used it, Gaddafi’s cousin tells RT

19 Dec, 2015
Islamic State militants have managed to steal chemical weapons from underground storage facilities in Libya that were not properly guarded and the gas has already been used, a cousin of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi told RT Arabic in an exclusive interview.
“ISIS has managed to find some of the secret underground storage facilities, still holding chemical weapons, hidden in the desert. Unfortunately, they weren’t properly guarded,” said Ahmed Gaddafi Al-Dam, a cousin of Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan leader who was killed in 2011.
Al-Dam, the stolen gas was then trafficked to the northern part of the country and sold.
“There are two known cases of this chemical agent being stolen. I know this from my sources in Tripoli. In the first case, seven drums of sarin were stolen, and in the second, I think it was five.”
