NATO Can’t Break Its Old Habit, Threatens Russia – French Political Expert
NATO drills in Poland demonstrated that the alliance is able to quickly respond in case of a military action. That’s the official version. Unofficially, the large-scale military operation was directed against Russia and was intended to intimidate the Kremlin, said Florent Parmentier, a political expert at Paris Institute of Political Science.
NATO created a Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF), a special unit available to respond to threats on short notice. All together the VJTF is expected to have at least 40,000 soldiers ready to be deployed within 48 hours, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
NATO wants to show its strength and to intimidate Russia, wrongly assuming that Moscow wants to "invade" Eastern Europe. "Cold Warriors" from NATO want to demonstrate their usefulness and assume the role of "European protectors," Parmentier said.
The western military alliance has been openly stating that Moscow poses a threat to its neighbors, all the while flashing its military hardware close to Russian borders. However, NATO muscle flexing and enhanced drills in Europe lack any merit since Russia neither poses a military threat to Eastern Europe nor want to frighten its neighbors. Claiming otherwise is simply ridiculous.
The United States tries to justify its military activities in Europe by asserting that Russia is somehow to blame for the civil war in Ukraine, sparked by the US-sponsored coup in February 2014.

Russia, on the other hand, stated numerous times that it is ready for a dialogue with NATO. The two sides could cooperate better only if NATO showed more respect for Moscow's legitimate interests and respected international law.
Over the past 20 years, the United States has been promoting NATO’s expansion in Eastern Europe, Quentin Jacquet wrote in the online French information site Boulevard Voltaire.
Russia and NATO should look for ways to develop a genuine system of collective security with a minimum emphasis on military factors, Russia's ambassador to NATO Alexander Grushko said.
"NATO hates to find itself pushed to the sidelines of historical progress and lose its job. We don't. Because if we manage to build a genuinely collective security system we would have a unique chance to work on tackling real global challenges," the Russian diplomat said.

US plan to topple Assad ‘at new stage’: Former CIA contractor
PressTV Aug 3, 2015
Kelley said the Pentagon is entering a “new stage” by threatening to use air power in Syria.
Former CIA contractor Steven Kelley says the Pentagon is entering a “new stage” by threatening to use air power in Syria if US-backed forces in the country come under attack.
President Barack Obama ordered the military to use airstrikes against those who attack the US-backed forces in Syria.
White House National Security Council spokesman Alistair Baskey said the Obama administration has made clear it will “take the steps necessary to ensure that these forces could successfully carry out their mission.”
He added that the support would include “defensive fires support to protect them.”
“President Obama’s recent authorization of using air power to support this, defend this new US-backed force fighting in Syria seems to be a new pathetic escalation,” Kelley told Press TV on Monday.
“This is a very negative advance in this entire episode,” he said.
“I think it’s still pathetic and shows that the American efforts to topple Assad seem to be reaching a new stage.”
The analyst also criticized the United States for intervention in Syria’s internal affairs.
“The people that they are recruiting have no interest in fighting against ISIS (ISIL). They’re strictly there to fight against Assad,” Kelley said.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since March 2011. The United States and its regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside the country.
An invasion so Erdogan can establish another Golan Heights and exploit Syrian oil from around Aleppo. Unbelievable.

Turkey Expands Military Campaign in Syria and Iraq
International Military Review
South Front 29 July 2015
Global Research, August 02, 2015
Turkey has agreed to let the so-called “U.S.-led anti-ISIS” coalition to openly use Turkish airbases at Incirlik, Diyarbakir, Batman and Malatya for coalition aircraft conducting sorties against ISIS. At the same time, Turkey began launching airstrikes targeting members of the PKK Iraqi Kurds in northern Iraq. Clearly, the Turkish agenda is not focused on combating ISIS. If it was, the Turks would have long ago sealed their borders with Syria, then ceased buying ISIS oil and training and facilitation of terrorist groups flowing into Syria from Turkish territory.
Turkey’s decision to help the “anti-ISIS coalition” is clearly motivated by its own strategic interests. One of them is limiting the expansion of armed Kurdish groups along the Turkish border.
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan also called for a “buffer zone” on the Turkey/Syria border – which would be enforced by a no-fly zone – to “ensure security.”
The zone will extend forty to fifty kilometers into ISIS-held regions of Aleppo Province in northern Syria. Turkish sources referred to the region as a no-fly zone and claimed that Syrian Air Forces aircraft entering the zone would also be targeted. The U.S. officials including U.S. Special Envoy to the Anti-ISIS Coalition Gen. John Allen publically denied that the implementation of a no-fly zone had been “part of the discussion.” However, a real practice in the application of the ‘buffer zone” agenda will indicate opening a new staging ground allowing terrorists such as ISIS to conduct attacks deeper inside Syria. Thus, it will open for the US, Turkey and their moderate rebel allies new opportunities in opposing Bashar al-Assad’s government.

Also, a buffer zone in northern Syria will probably block any attempt by Syrian Kurdish forces to move into areas along the Turkish border west of the Euphrates River. This will allow ISIS and other extremist groups to avoid jeopardizing their supply routes through Turkey. The seizure of the border town of Tel Abyad in northern Syria from ISIS on June 15 by Kurdish YPG forces appears to have been the primary trigger which forced Turkey to reevaluate its border security policies. The prospect of further gains along the Syrian-Turkish border by Kurdish forces likely impacts Turkey to further engage with the Syrian conflict in order to ensure that the US-led campaign would evolve in line with Turkey’s own interests.
Nonetheless, the formal expansion of Turkey’s role in the U.S.-led anti-ISIS coalition will likely generate a reaction in the form of retaliatory attacks from ISIS inside of Turkey. Thousands of foreign fighters have utilized Turkey and its porous border with Syria as a pathway to join with ISIS forces in Syria and Iraq, including an estimated 1,000 Turkish citizens. The members of these networks represent a key threat to Turkey’s internal security. At the same time, Turkey also faces expanded internal turmoil in its southeastern Kurdish-majority provinces due to the resumption of hostilities with the Kurdish groups. These two simultaneous threat streams will likely interact to prompt instability inside of Turkey in coming weeks.

SAS dress as ISIS fighters in undercover war on jihadis- Humour?!
I thought this was humour but then I realized, it wasn't!
We have all seen many, many images of foreign fighters with KurdIShIS. - Pretty obviously Special Ops soldiers fighting alongside KurdIShIS- Americans, Canadians, Brits, French etc.,
Recall the dead Canadian in the “fog of war” shooting. Killed by the KurdIShIS ally.
“Doiron, a soldier in the Canadian Special Operations Regiment based at Garrison Petawawa, Ont"
The Canadian government swept that murder under the rug, lickety split!
We have heard their British, French, American, Canadian accented voices on far too many audios to think these soldiers from around the globe are anything but intentional players in the NATO led campaign to entirely remake the middle east-
So, you can imagine my laughter when I read the article that will be linked below.
I said to hubby "Is this a serious piece of journalism?" As I laughed!
It’s like some kind of sick joke.Who could or would believe this to be anything but some pathetic attempt at damage control? I’m talking a really, really pathetic attempt at damage control. Shrugs shoulders!
If at first you don’t succeed lie and then lie again! Or hell, lie bigger! And make the lie so absurd the gullible will actually believe it to be true.
Yes, I am talking about "The Big Lie"
BRITISH Special Forces are mounting hit and run raids against Islamic State deep inside eastern Syria dressed as insurgent fighters, the Sunday Express can reveal.
SAS soldiers are disguising themselves as ISIS fighters/KurdIShIS as I like to call them
The unorthodox tactic, (common) which is seeing SAS units dressed in black and flying ISIS flags, has been likened ("likened" spin) to the methods used by the Long Range Desert Group against Rommel's forces during the Second World War.
More than 120 members belonging to the elite regiment are currently in the war-torn country on operation Shader, tasked with destroying IS equipment and munitions which insurgents constantly move to avoid Coalition air strikes.
Tasked with fighting against the soldiers of a targeted nation. Iraq. Syria.
Though the Prime Minister is being kept informed, senior military sources last night told the Sunday Express that he would not be required to "green light" every mission.
Instead the teams, part of a force known as the Coalition Joint Special Operations Task Force, are under American command.
Dubbed "smash" the units, which travel in civilian pick-ups, (Like the White Toyota's of KurdIShIS) can even launch their own unmanned aerial vehicles, or mini-drones, to scan terrain ahead of them and pinpoint IS forces.
Using a US-developed programme, the UAVs camera system can identify any known High Value Target, digitally transmitting the information as it happens to analysts on the ground.
They are being supported by more than 250 specialists, who provide additional communications support.
British/US/French/ Canadian Special Forces (etc.) are alongside KurdIShIS smashing the Middle East to pieces- Fact
Everything else is just the BIG LIE

This interview with former SVR general Reshetnikov backs you up 100%.
America creates terrorists, feeds them, trains them, and then gives an order to the whole pack: "catch". Perhaps, they can shoot one "rabid dog" in the whole pack, but the other dogs will be set even more actively.

There is no speaking of inclusion of Novorossia into Ukraine any longer
cassad_eng April 8th, 23:05
In the journal of general Kanchukov I found an interview of the former SVR general Reshetnikov, who now leads the RISR analytical center:
On the northern outskirts of Moscow, under reliable protection of the interior troops the formerly secret institute of the Foreign Intelligence Service is hidden. The golden letters "Russian Institute of Strategic Research" now show up on the front of the overhang. But the peaceful name doesn't confuse those who are in the know — more than two hundred employees forge the Motherland's analytical shield here. Will there be a new war in the south-east of Ukraine? Who is behind the US president? Why so many among our officials can be called the ideological agents of influence? These and other questions of "AN" were answered by the director of RISR, the retired lieutenant-general Leonid RESHETNIKOV.
Rivals on the same field
– You had a serous "roof" — the SVR. Why would they suddenly declassify you?
Indeed, we were a closed institute of the foreign intelligence, which mostly specialized in analyzing the available information on the far and near abroad. That is, on the information that is not only needed by the intelligence service, but also by the structures that determine the country's foreign policy. Oddly enough, there were no similar analytical centers in the Russian president's administration. Even though there were plenty of "institutions" in which there is only the director, the secretary and the wife of the director who works as an analyst. The PA lacked serious specialists and so the intelligence service had to share.
Today our founder is the president of Russia, and all governmental requests for research are signed by the head of the administration Sergey Ivanov.
– How much demand is out there for your analytics? For we are a paper country: everyone writes, writes a lot — but does that influence the final result?
Sometimes we see the actions that echo our analytical papers. Sometimes it is impressive when you put up certain ideas and they become a trend in the Russian public opinion. It is clear that many directions are ripe for being pursued.
– Something similar is done in the USA by the analytical center Stratfor and the strategic research center RAND Corporation. Which of you is "cooler"?
When, after the transition to the PA in the April of 2009 we made the new statute of the institute, as a suggestion we were told to use their example. Back then I thought "if you'll finance us like Stratfor or the RAND Corporation are financed, then we'll beat all of these foreign analytical companies." Because the Russian analysts are the strongest in the world. Even more so the regional specialists, who have more "fresh", uncontaminated brains. I can speak about this confidently, in the end I have 33 years of experience of the analytical work. First in the First main directorate of the KGB USSR and then the Foreign Intelligence Service.

UK, US turn blind eye to Islamic State oil sales
Nafeez Ahmed 31 July 2015
Amid the scramble for Kurdistan’s oil and gas wealth, the US and UK are tied to Kurdish and Turkish institutions accused of facilitating IS oil sales
Key allies in the US and UK led war on Islamic State (IS) are covertly financing the terrorist movement according to senior political sources in the region. US and British oil companies are heavily invested in the murky geopolitical triangle sustaining IS’ black market oil sales.
The Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq and Turkish military intelligence have supported secret IS oil smuggling operations and supplied arms to the terror group, according to Kurdish, Iraqi and Turkish officials.
One British oil company in particular, Genel Energy, is contracted by the KRG to supply oil for a major Kurdish firm accused of facilitating IS oil sales to Turkey. The Kurdish firm has close ties to the Iraqi Kurdish government.
Genel operates in the KRG with the backing of the British government, and is also linked to a British parliamentary group with longstanding connections to both the British and KRG oil industries.
The relationship between British and Kurdish energy companies, and senior British politicians, raises questions about conflicts of interest – especially in the context of a "war on terror" that is supposed to be targeting, not financing, the Islamic State.
Kurds, Turks and blind eyes
One of IS’ most significant sources of revenue is oil smuggling. The Islamic State controls approximately 60% of Syria’s oil, and seven major oil-producing assets in Iraq.
Using a carefully cultivated network of intermediaries and "middlemen" in the Kurdish region of Iraq, as well as in Turkey, IS has been able to produce a phenomenal 45,000 barrels of oil a day, raking in as much as $3 million a day in cash by selling the oil at well below market prices.
But the sheer scale and impunity of this oil smuggling network has caused local politicians to ask whether certain officials in the KRG and Turkey are turning a blind eye to these operations.
Iraqi, Kurdish and Turkish officials have accused both the KRG and Turkish governments of deliberately allowing some of these smuggling operations to take place.
Tensions between the KRG and Iraq’s central government in Baghdad are escalating over who controls production and revenues from oil fields within the Kurdish region. Kurdish officials see the oil within the Kurdish-controlled territory of Iraq as a means to seek greater autonomy, if not potentially total independence, from Baghdad – whereas the Iraqi government seeks to ensure it retains sovereign control over all sales from its own oil fields, which include those in the KRG.
Those tensions reached a crescendo when the KRG began unilaterally selling oil by exporting it to Turkey, bypassing Baghdad.
Continues with Complicity

When you’re introduced to Saeed Torres in the new documentary (T)ERROR, you hear him bickering with the filmmaker, Lyric Cabral. The screen is black.
“I told you I didn’t want my face in that shit,” he says.
“Even if your face is shown, how would somebody come after you?” Cabral asks.
“You’d be surprised who knows me,” Torres insists.
The blackness lifts. Torres is dressed in a chef’s apron and a white headscarf, making hot dogs at an amateur basketball game, as if he were an all-American guy.
“I might not even make no fucking independent film,” he says, irritated.
Torres isn’t an all-American guy. He’s an FBI informant, one of more than 15,000 domestic spies who make up the largest surveillance network ever created in the United States. During J. Edgar Hoover’s COINTELPRO operations, the bureau had just 1,500 informants. The drug war brought that number up to about 6,000. After 9/11, the bureau recruited so many new informants — many of them crooks and convicts, desperate for money or leniency on previous crimes — that the government had to develop software to help agents track their spies.

At Least 25 Dead, Dozens Injured After Military Plane Crashes in Syria
BEIRUT (Sputnik) — Original media reports of a deadly explosion caused by a military aircraft crashing near the northwestern Syrian city of Jericho in the Idlib Governorate were incorrect as the city was hit by a US cruise missile, the pan-Arabist television channel Al Mayadeen reported Monday, citing a source in Syria.
Earlier in the day, Syrian media reported at least 25 people killed and dozens injured in an explosion in a residential area.
"The reports of a Syrian fighter aircraft crashing in Idlib were false. A cruise missile of the international coalition led by the United States hit [the city]," the source said, quoted by the channel.

Regarding the recent US/Turkey agreement… The use of Turkish airbases
by the US Air Force is emphasized in the press; but what was overlooked
(or deliberately ignored) was the addition of about 1200 US Army troops.
Those are beyond the normal support personnel from the Air Force. (It is
all going to amount to many thousands.)
Who are the Army people? They are from the 10th Special Forces Group,
Ft. Carson, CO. [The SF Group whose theater assignment is EUCOM — which includes Turkey.] 10SFGA was based out of Turkey during the first war against Iraq in 1990, and again in 2003. Their primary mission will be forward air control and laser target designator teams for both US and Turk airstrikes in Syria and Kurdish Iraq. Their secondary mission will be strategic reconnaissance against the SAA, principally along Lines of Communication (LOC). There will also be liaison teams with Turkish ground units when, not if, the Turks invade Syria.
Having myself done these things in SF, my strong and grave
recommendation to the SAA command and control is to become redundant and dispersed insofar as possible to maintain operations tempo.

In what seems to be a bid to create the impression of growing support for his campaign against the Syrian president, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has claimed that Russia is rethinking its wholehearted support for Bashar al-Assad.
Erdogan said Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is no longer of the opinion that he will support Assad to the end.
“Putin's current attitude toward Syria is more encouraging than before,” Erdogan told reporters onboard his presidential jet as he returned from a trip to Asian countries.
Erdogan cited as a proof his face-to-face meeting with Putin in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku in June and the following phone calls, saying Putin has become "more positive" toward the developments in Syria.
"I believe he can give up Assad,” Erdogan said, adding, "Putin's current attitude toward Syria is more encouraging than before."

Jimmy Carter Is Correct that the U.S. Is No Longer a Democracy
by Eric Zuesse August 3, 2015
On July 28th, Thom Hartmann interviewed former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and, at the very end of his show (as if this massive question were merely an aftethought), asked him his opinion of the 2010 Citizens United decision and the 2014 McCutcheon decision, both decisions by the five Republican judges on the U.S. Supreme Court. These two historic decisions enable unlimited secret money (including foreign money) now to pour into U.S. political and judicial campaigns. Carter answered:
“It violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for President or being elected President. And the same thing applies to governors, and U.S. Senators and congress members. So, now we’ve just seen a subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect, and sometimes get, favors for themselves after the election is over. … At the present time the incumbents, Democrats and Republicans, look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves. Somebody that is already in Congress has a great deal more to sell.”

British SAS Special Forces “Dressed Up as ISIS Rebels” Fighting Assad in Syria
By Stephen Lendman
Global Research, August 04, 2015
On August 2, Britain’s Sunday Express newspaper headlined “SAS dress as ISIS fighters in undercover war on jihadis,” saying:
“More than 120 members belonging to the elite regiment are currently in the war-torn country” covertly “dressed in black and flying ISIS flags,” engaged in what’s called Operation Shader – attacking Syrian targets on the pretext of combatting ISIS.
Maybe covert US special forces and CIA elements are involved the same way. During Obama’s war on Libya, Britain deployed hundreds of Special Forces Support Group (SFSG) paratroopers – drawn from SAS (Special Air Service) and SBS (Special Boat Service) personnel.
Around 800 Royal Marines and 4,000 US counterparts were on standby to intervene on short notice if ordered.
The latest revelation comes two weeks after learning Prime Minister David Cameron last year approved British warplanes joining US ones in bombing Syria despite parliamentary rejection in August 2013.
At least part of its current covert ground operation is under US command – so-called “smash” units traveling in pickup trucks able to launch mini-UAVs to scan terrain for targets to attack.
Over 250 UK (and perhaps US) specialists are involved to provide communications support, the Sunday Express explained.
British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon said “(o)ur actions and surveillance capabilities are freeing up other countries to strike in Syria.”
UK SAS forces are in Saudi Arabia training anti-Assad terrorists along with US operatives doing the same thing – including in Turkey, Jordan, Qatar and perhaps Israel.
US and UK claims about training so-called “moderate” rebels reflect smoke-screen cover for working directly with ISIS terrorists – trained, armed and funded abroad, funneled cross-border into Syria to fight Assad, now with US/UK and Canadian air support along with covert commandos on the ground.
The Express cited former British Army General David Richards saying “tanks will roll” as part of UK operations in Syria.
A separate article discussed US airstrikes defending ISIS terrorists serving as US foot soldiers against Assad.
The Wall Street Journal reported what appears ominously like prelude to Libya 2.0 – falsely claiming Obama authorized airstrikes against Syrian forces if they attack (nonexistent) US-supported “moderate” rebels.
Separately, Turkish media reported President Recep Tayyip Erdogan saying Putin may have softened on Assad. (H)e may give up on” him.
Obama said he was “encouraged by the fact that Mr. Putin called him (in late June) and initiated the call to talk about Syria.”
I think they get a sense that the Assad regime is losing a grip over greater and greater swaths of territory inside of Syria and that the prospects for a (jihadist) takeover or rout of the Syrian regime is not imminent but becomes a greater and greater threat by the day. That offers us an opportunity to have a serious conversation with them.
Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said both leaders discussed combatting terrorism – especially the Islamic State.
“The Russian view is well-known,” he explained. “(I)t was reiterated by (Putin) during (his) conversation” with Obama. It hasn’t changed.
Putin opposes outside interference by any nations in the internal affairs of others. He supports the sovereign right of Syrians and other people to choose their own leaders and legislators.
Putin aide Yury Ushakov said “the current leadership of Syria is one of the real and effective forces confronting the Islamic State.”
Nothing indicates less Russian support for Assad.

US Airstrikes Kill Hundreds of Civilians in Syria and Iraq
By Stephen Lendman
Global Research, August 04, 2015
US warplanes began bombing Iraqi targets in June 2014. Last September, US Syrian airstrikes followed. Washington falsely claims it’s waging war on the Islamic State (IS) – with pinpoint accuracy against positions and fighters targeted. Just the opposite.
Bombing aims to destabilize Iraq and Syria more than already. Infrastructure sites are struck – not IS fighters as claimed. America is its de facto air force.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) in charge of the air campaign falsely claims few civilian deaths at most – saying pinpoint targeting avoids them, one of the many Big Lies proliferated in all US wars.
Civilians are considered legitimate US targets. Hundreds of thousands were willfully slaughtered since Operation Desert Storm aggression against Saddam Hussein in January 1991 alone.
In his book titled “A Little Matter of Genocide: Holocaust and Denial in the Americas 1492 to the Present,” Ward Churchill explained: After four centuries of systematic slaughter from 1492 – 1892, “the US Census Bureau concluded that there were fewer than a quarter-million indigenous people surviving,” in America, reduced to at most 3% of their original numbers.

Washington Stunned by Attack on US Mercenaries in Syria
By Bill Van Auken
Global Research, August 03, 2015
World Socialist Web Site
An attack by the Syrian Islamist militia affiliated with Al Qaeda upon a small US-trained mercenary force sent into the country has staggered the Obama administration, while underscoring the immense internal contradictions and outright duplicity of its policy in the region.
The attack came early Friday against a Syrian militia known as Division 30, which has been the central focus of a $500 million program initiated by the Obama administration and administered by the Pentagon to arm and train a US-controlled proxy force, ostensibly for fighting against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) inside Syria.
Launching the attack was the Al-Nusra Front, the Syrian affiliate of Al Qaeda and the most powerful of the Islamist militias that have been fielded in the Western, Saudi, Turkish and Qatari-backed war for regime change to oust the government of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad.
Friday’s attack came a day after the Nusra Front captured the head of Division 30, a Syrian army defector Col. Nadim al-Hasan, and another officer known as Abu Hadi, who was in command of the small band of US-trained fighters who have been funneled back into Syria from Turkey. Another six fighters were also taken prisoner.
The Pentagon initially issued carefully worded statements claiming that none of the US-trained fighters had been captured. These claims were dashed by Saturday, when the Syrian Al Qaeda front released a video in which the captured fighters appeared. One of them, speaking to the camera, explained how US trainers had, after a month and a half training in Turkey, provided him and others with M-16 assault rifles and cash and sent them into Syria.
The US-trained fighters are hardly a formidable force. According to the Pentagon’s own admission, barely 60 have been vetted and trained since the program was first proposed nearly a year ago, with the stated aim of fielding an army of 15,000 US-backed mercenaries.
The difficulties encountered by this program stem both from the inability of the Pentagon to vet Syrian fighters, who are overwhelmingly drawn from Islamist extremist groups like the Nusra Front, and the unwillingness of these same fighters to be identified as US-paid mercenaries.
The intervention of US warplanes bombing Al-Nusra positions was apparently the only thing that prevented the complete overrunning of Division 30, which has provided its members as a stable for Pentagon recruitment.
What is most striking about the event is the unconcealed dismay and surprise on the part of both the US-backed militia and Washington itself at being attacked by the Nusra Front.
Following the capture of its commander and the other fighters, Division 30 issued a communique appealing to “our brothers” in the Al-Nusra-dominated “Support Front” to “release the colonel and his companions as quickly as possible, avoiding shedding the blood of Muslims and out of eagerness to maintain a united front.”
The statement could not be clearer. The force being trained by the US military is attempting to operate as part of a “united front” with the Syrian affiliate of Al Qaeda, which the American people have been told for nearly 14 years represents the foremost threat to the US.
This same essential truth was driven home by the reaction of US officials to the Al-Nusra attack.
“In Washington, several current and former senior administration officials acknowledged that the attack and the abductions by the Nusra Front took American officials by surprise and represented a significant intelligence failure,” the New York Times reported Saturday.
The Times reported that officials said, “they expected the Nusra Front to welcome Division 30 as an ally.” It quoted one former senior US official, said to be working closely on Syrian issues until recently, as saying, “This wasn’t supposed to happen like this.”

Re: Washington Stunned by Attack on US Mercenaries in Syria
Explaining the dismay of official Washington over the turn of events, theTimes adds:
“Division 30’s leaders expected to play a role in an ambitious new joint push by the United States and Turkey to help less radical Syrian insurgent groups seize territory from the fundamentalist militant fighters of the Islamic State, also known as ISIS….”
The reference is to the recent announcement of an agreement between Washington and Ankara to move ahead with Turkey’s long-stated goal of seizing a strip of Syrian territory alongside the Turkish border and turning into a “safe zone,” or as US officials have pitched it, an “ISIS-free zone.”
Turkey’s aims in pursuing this goal are two-fold: to escalate the four-year-old war for regime change in Syria and to crush the attempts by Kurdish groups to carve out their own autonomous region in this border area. Since announcing it was joining the fight against ISIS and allowing the US Air Force to use Turkish bases to launch strikes against ISIS, Turkey has concentrated its own bombardments not on the Islamist militia, but on the Kurds who have been fighting against it.
When the Times writes delicately about Division 30 leaders hoping to “help less radical Syrian insurgent groups” seize control of this buffer zone, it is speaking of the Nusra Front, the Al Qaeda affiliate and its closest allies. These forces have already managed to seize hold of a substantial part of this territory, thanks to arms and funds poured in by Washington’s main regional allies: Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Washington’s apparent objective was to rely on the Nusra Front to serve as its principal proxy force while utilizing the US-trained mercenaries of Division 30 to influence the Al Qaeda-affiliated militia. The fighting at the end of last week has thrown this strategy into disarray.
This is only the latest fiasco produced by the US intervention in the region. Late last year, two of the last remaining “moderate rebel” groups backed and armed by Washington collapsed in the face of the Nusra Front. The groups voluntarily disbanded, ceded all of their US-supplied weapons to the Al Qaeda affiliate and released their members to join it. Among the sophisticated US weapons turned over to the Nusra Front were TOW anti-tank missiles and Grad rockets.
In the midst of the latest debacle with Division 30 and one year after the Obama administration began its bombing campaign against ISIS targets in Syria and Iraq, US military and intelligence officials have told the Associated Press that both the CIA and the Defense Intelligence Agency have concluded that the strategy has resulted in “no meaningful degradation” of the number of fighters fielded by ISIS. US intelligence puts this number at between 20,000 and 30,000. Nor have any significant gains been registered in retaking Iraqi territory that has fallen under ISIS control.
This does not mean nothing has changed. The escalation of Washington’s criminal and predatory intervention in the region has left thousands more dead and maimed, driven many more from their homes and stoked sectarian divisions as a means of dividing and conquering both Syria and Iraq.
In the process, the Obama administration has succeeded in exposing the lies used to promote this intervention. What has been sold to the American people as a war against terrorism is in actuality being waged in a de facto alliance with Al Qaeda. Its real purpose is to oust a Syrian government allied with Russia and Iran and impose a US puppet as part of a strategy to impose US hegemony over the entire Middle East and prepare for global war.
With the successive failures of US attempts to field proxy forces in this struggle, there is the growing likelihood that the US military will be thrown directly into another major bloodbath.
You would think the nationalrags would be screaming for blood.
The US and the UK regimes are now documented operating against a democratically elected government in a sovereign country without UNSC approval and against the wishes of the UK public and Parliament.
Sue Cameron for at least the cost of unauthorised and illicit covert UK operations in Syria.
Throw in treason and conspiracy with foreign powers.

USA, Turkey and Israel Act As Air Force for The Islamic State Terrorists (ISIS)
By Washington's Blog
Global Research, August 04, 2015
Washington's Blog 3 August 2015

NATO member Turkey was busted buying huge quantities of oil from ISIS (its main source of funding), and bombing ISIS’ main on-the-ground enemy – Kurdish soldiers – using its air force. Many also say that Turkey has long been directly supporting ISIS.
The Israeli air force has bombed near the Syrian capital of Damascus, and attacked agricultural facilities and warehouses (the Syrian government is the other main opponent of ISIS in Syria besides the Kurds). The Israeli military recently admitted supporting Syrian jihadis. And see this.
Mainstream U.S. writers such as Thomas Friedman have called for America to support ISIS.
Republican Senator Ted Cruz opposed U.S. military intervention in Syria, saying the U.S. military shouldn’t be “Al Qaeda’s air force.”  Similarly, former Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich  said that striking Syria would turn the United States military into “al-Qaeda’s air force.” (ISIS is just a re-branded name for Al Qaeda).
“So what, we’re about to become Al Qaeda’s air force now?” Kucinich said. “This is a very, very serious matter that has broad implications internationally. And to try to minimize it by saying we’re just going to have a ‘targeted strike’ — that’s an act of war. It’s not anything to be trifled with.” (2013 Interview)
Indeed, NBC News, the Wall Street Journal, CNN and others report that the U.S. has already committed to provide air power to support Muslim jihadis in Syria.

So Turkey, Israel and the U.S. are all now acting as ISIS’ air force in order to oust the Syrian government … again.

Gold Sentiment Is Just Plain Ugly
Zero Hedge. Submitted by GoldCore on 08/04/2015
The headlines are dramatic, ugly and depressing to anyone who holds gold right now. Broad market sentiment has shifted from disdain and dismissive to highly negative. Hedge funds are shorting gold aggressively, hedge funds that own gold are being "outed". The market pundits are are sticking the proverbial knife in and twisting it with glee. The Financial Times published an interesting article over the weekend.
"Why gold has lost its shine for investors"
by Mohamed El-Erian. He is one of the world's most respected investors and market commentators. In his piece he makes a number of interesting observations.
According to El Erian gold is falling because:
In a world of ETFs investors can mange risk more effectively and therefore do not need a traditional safe haven such as gold.
Gold does well in inflationary environments, we don't have one right now, ergo, gold does poorly.
Central banks are not buying gold as aggressively as they once did; lower demand, lower prices.
Gold has not reacted as a safe haven as it should. Greece should have sent the price soaring but it did not.
Official and institutional demand for gold has not materialised.
Physical market demand at lower prices is not strong enough to create a firm bid for gold, there are not enough small guys in the market.
Gold's recent price move up $1,000 from $700 in 2008 was the outlier and not the norm and gold is now priced more correctly than it was then.
But then he drops the biggest bomb of all. He states that gold could buck its recent trend and the reason he gives should give you all reason to take notice.
"This situation is unlikely to change soon but it need not be terminal. A shift would probably require a broader normalisation of financial markets, including a diminution in the direct and indirect role of central banks in determining asset prices and their correlations."
Does this not strike you as a particularly insightful statement, from one of the world's foremost investment minds no less?
I read it as follows, "the game is rigged until it is not rigged and then and only then will gold normalise to its true market value (straw poll please), as will other assets."
Nearly all his previous points are rendered moot if in fact the market is rigged and we lack an effective fair price discovery mechanism.
The fact is the markets are massively dependent on central bank funding, central bank benchmark rates and central bank meeting minutes. The small matters of risk premia, allocations, efficiencies, debt levels, productivity, ROCE, even dividends are not so important any more. Just look at the rise of the Fed balance sheet and the S&P500. Literally, they are one for one.
Nope, its the unelected masters of the universe that now control the financial destiny of every human on the planet. Not one of them was ever elected. We are witness to the most extraordinary concentration of power that has ever existed, and our political representatives have allowed this to happen.
If you are foolish enough to trust in the markets' internal risk pricing mechanism, efficient market theory, think again.

In summary since 2013 Bill Clinton has been paid $26.6 million for 94 speeches; Hillary's grand total is slightly less: $21.7 million for 92 private appearances.

Comex On The Edge? Paper Gold "Dilution" Hits A Record 124 For Every Ounce Of Physical
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/03/2015 - 20:47
Something surprising happened on Friday afternoon: in the latest daily COMEX update 25,386 ounces of Registered gold had been "adjusted" out of registered and into eligible. This reduction in deliverable Comex gold pushed the amount of registered Comex gold to an all time low: at 351,519 ounces registered Comex gold has never been lower! It also means that as of Friday's close there was a whopping 123.8 ounces in potential paper claims to every ounces of physical gold.

Louis Farrakhan Urges Black Community To "Rise Up And Kill Those Who Kill Us"
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/04/2015
"The Koran teaches persecution is worse than slaughter. Then it says, retaliation is prescribed in matters of the slain. Retaliation is a prescription from God to calm the breaths of those whose children have been slain. So if the federal government will not intercede in our affairs, then we must rise up and kill those who kill us. Stalk them and kill them and let them feel the pain of death that we are feeling."

Fed Lunacy Is To Blame For The Coming Crash
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/04/2015
From our perspective, the fundamental reason for economic stagnation and growing income disparity is straightforward: Our current set of economic policies supports and encourages a low level equilibrium by encouraging debt-financed consumption and discouraging saving and productive investment. We permit an insular group of professors and bankers to fling trillions of dollars about like Frisbees in the simplistic, misguided, and repeatedly destructive attempt to buy prosperity by maximally distorting the financial markets.
The perps should do the decent thing. Assisted in the way the underlings appear to have been if needed.

Peter Schiff: What If "They" Are Wrong (Again)?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/04/2015
What if the assumptions about a U.S. economic recovery and Fed rate hikes were wrong? Could observers be mistaken now about the trajectory of the Dollar vs. the Euro as they were back in 2000? Confidence is the only thing that really undergirds modern fiat currencies. But confidence can be very ephemeral...disappearing as quickly as it arrives. The U.S. Dollar benefits from confidence that the Euro currency may just be unworkable, that the U.S. economy will continue to improve, and that the Fed will raise rates throughout the remainder of 2015 and into 2016. If these expectations are unfulfilled, there could be a Euro reversal.

Goldman Is Confused: If The Economy Is Recovering, Then How Is This Possible
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/04/2015
"The share of young people living with their parents--which rose sharply during the recession and its aftermath--finally began to decline in 2014. But over the last six months, this decline seems to have stalled. We find that the share of young people living with their parents has increased relative to pre-recession rates for all labor force status groups, not just the unemployed and underemployed." - Goldman Sachs

American Oligarchy: 400 Families Represent 50% Of Money Raised by 2016 Presidential Candidates So Far
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/04/2015
The American system of government is nothing like what we are told in school and via the oligarch-owned mainstream media. The country has become so captured and corrupted by sociopathic oligarchs, that a neo-feudal modern serfdom is emerging where the opportunities to enjoy rising standards of living for the vast majority of people was rapidly becoming a pipe dream. The Dark Ages almost look democratic by comparison.

Washington's "Fifth Columns" Inside Russia And China
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/03/2015
We Americans need to be humble, not arrogant. We need to acknowledge that American living standards, except for the favored One Percent, are in long-term decline and have been for two decades. If life on earth is to continue, Americans need to understand that it is not Russia and China, any more than it was Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi, Assad, Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia, that are threats to the US. The threat to the US resides entirely in the crazed neoconservative ideology of Washington’s hegemony over the world and over the American people. This arrogant goal commits the US and its vassal states to nuclear war.

Why Turkey's "ISIS-Free Zone" Is The Most Ridiculous US Foreign Policy Outcome In History
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/04/2015
The truly incredible thing about US foreign policy outcomes is that there are seemingly no limits on how absurd they can be. Indeed, Washington’s uncanny ability to paint itself into policy corners and create the most thoroughly flummoxing geopolitical quagmires in the history of statecraft knows absolutely no bounds.

TEPCO Officials To Be Tried for Role In Fukushima Meltdown
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/04/2015
A Japanese citizens’ judicial committee has overruled government prosecutors and forced them to bring three former executives of the Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) to trial on charges of criminal negligence for their inability to prevent the 2011 nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
Show trial or will the truth be probed for concerning the explosions claimed to be hydrogen that had black clouds instead of white.

Behind the Hydrogen Explosion at the Fukushima Nuclear Plant
The explosion at the Fukushima nuclear power plant is being described as caused by a “hydrogen build-up” The situation harks back to the “hydrogen bubble” that was feared would explode when the Three Mile Island plant in 1979 underwent a partial meltdown.
March 12, 2011 by Karl Grossman
The hydrogen explosion problem at nuclear power plants involves a story as crazy as can be. As nuts as using nuclear fission to boil water to generate electricity is, the hydrogen problem and its cause cap the lunacy.
Eruption of hydrogen gas as a first reaction in a loss-of-coolant accident has been discussed with great worry in U.S. government and nuclear industry literature for decades.
That is because a highly volatile substance called zirconium was chosen back in the 1940’s and 50’s, when plans were first developed to build nuclear power plants, as the material to be used to make the rods into which radioactive fuel would be loaded.
There are 30,000 to 40,000 rods—composed of twenty tons of zirconium—in an average nuclear power plant. Many other substances were tried, particularly stainless steel, but only zirconium worked well. That’s because zirconium, it was found, allows neutrons from the fuel pellets in the rods to pass freely between the rods and thus a nuclear chain reaction to be sustained.
But there’s a huge problem with zirconium—it is highly volatile and when hot will explode spontaneously upon contact with air, water or steam.
The only other major commercial use of zirconium through the years has been in flashbulbs used in photography. A speck of it, on a flashbulb, ignites to provide a flash of light.
But in a nuclear plant, we’re not talking about specks—but tons and tons of zirconium, put together as a compound called “zircaloy” that clads tens of thousands of fuel rods.
Heat, a great deal of heat, builds up in a very short time with any interruption of coolant flow in a nuclear power plant—the problem at Fukushima after the earthquake that struck Japan.
Zirconium, with the explosive power, pound for pound, of nitroglycerine, will catch fire and explode at a temperature of 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, well below the 5,000 degree temperature of a meltdown.
Before then, however, zirconium reacts to the heat by drawing oxygen from water and steam and letting off hydrogen, which itself can explode—and is said to have done so at Fukushima.
As a result of such a hydrogen explosion, there is additional heat—bringing the zirconium itself closer and closer to its explosive level.
Whether in addition to being a hydrogen explosion, zirconium also exploded at Fukushima remains to be known.
But what has happened regarding hydrogen at Fukushima, like the “hydrogen bubble” when the Three Mile Island plant in Pennsylvania underwent its near partial meltdown, is no mystery—but precisely what is expected in a loss-of-coolant accident.
It is described in U.S. government and nuclear industry accident studies as a “metal-water” reaction. It’s a reaction, the research has long stated, that can easily trigger a meltdown.
Using tons of a material otherwise used as the speck that explodes in a flashbulb in nuclear power plants —yes, absolutely crazy.
Moreover, in the spent fuel pools usually situated next to nuclear power plants, there are large numbers of additional fuel rods, used ones, disposed of as waste. There must be constant water circulation in the spent fuel pools. In what is labeled a “loss-of-water’ accident in a spent fuel pool, the zirconium cladding of the fuel rods is projected as exploding—sending into the environment the lethal nuclear poisons in a spent fuel pool.

Putin to Turkish Envoy: “Tell Erdogan he can go to hell along with ISIL Terrorists”
By News Desk on August 4, 2015
Russian President Vladimir Putin broke the accepted diplomatic protocols and personally summoned Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Ümit Yardim, and warned him that the Russian Federation shall sever the diplomatic relations immediately unless Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stops supporting ISIL terrorists in Syria, where Russia holds its last navy base in the Mediterranean sea, FNA reported.
The AWD news website quoted Moscow Times as reporting that the Russian president purportedly went into a long diatribe criticizing the Turkish foreign policy and its malevolent role in Syria, Iraq and Yemen by supporting Saudi-backed al-Qaeda terrorists, which escalated the conversation with the Turkish ambassador to a fierce polemic.
