Behind the anti-terror alibi, the gas war in the Levant
October 2014 by Thierry Meyssan
Though everyone adheres to Washington and its Gulf allies’ anti-terrorist discourse, everyone understands that it is only a rhetorical justification for a war that has other purposes. The United States say they want to destroy the Islamic Emirate which they created and which performs for them the ethnic cleansing necessary to its plan for the remodeling of the "Broader Middle East". Stranger still, they say they want to fight in Syria alongside the moderate opposition which is composed of the same jihadists. Finally, they destroyed Rakka buildings that had been evacuated two days earlier by the Islamic Emirate. For Thierry Meyssan, behind these apparent contradictions the gas war continues.
The US air campaign in Iraq and Syria is puzzling: it is impossible to destroy a terrorist group exclusively by air strikes. In Iraq, the United States and the GCC coupled their actions with those of Iraqi troops and Kurdish ground forces. In Syria, they have no serious force to fight against the Islamic Emirate. And even in this case, "the bombings are not able to affect the capacity of the Islamic Emirate or its operations in other parts of Iraq or Syria," according to General William Mayville, chief of operations at the US Chiefs of Staff. [1]
Moreover, and despite official declarations, the Islamic Emirate is a creation of the United States and the GCC, and it unflaggingly serves their interests:
• In May 2013, Senator John McCain came to Syria illegally to meet the staff of the Free Syrian Army (moderate), including Abu Youssef, also known as Abu Du’a, alias Ibrahim al-Baghdadi, the current caliph Ibrahim (Head of the extremists) [2].
• In January 2014, Reuters revealed that President Obama had called a secret session of Congress during which it voted to fund and arm the "rebels" in Syria, including those of the Islamic Emirate until September 2014 [3]. It was indeed a secret session and not just behind closed doors. The entire American press complied with the censorship of this information.
• Proud of this acknowledgement, Saudi state television clamored the fact that the Islamic Emirate was headed by Prince Abdul Rahman al-Faisal. [4]
• Meanwhile the head of Israeli military intelligence, General Aviv Kochavi, warned against a proliferation of anti-Syrian fighters and found that members of al-Qaida, including those of the Islamic Emirate (which it had not yet divorced) were trained in three camps in Turkey [under NATO control] located in Şanlıurfa, Osmaniye and Karaman. [5]
• In May 2014, Saudi Arabia handed over new heavy weapons and quantities of new Toyotas (purchased in Ukraine) to the Islamic Emirate to invade Iraq. The transfer was carried out by a special train chartered by the Turkish secret services.
• On May 27, Massoud Barzani, president of the Kurdish regional government in Iraq, went to Amman to coordinate the invasion of Iraq between Iraqi Kurds and the Islamic Emirate. An additional meeting was held, also in Amman, with numerous Sunni partners on June 1. [“PKK revelations on ISIL attack and creation of "Kurdistan"”, Voltaire Network, 8 July 2014.]
• In early June, the Islamic Emirate and the Local Government of Kurdistan went on the attack. The Islamic Emirate, in accordance with its mission, spread terror in order to accomplish the ethnic cleansing that the US army had been unable to achieve in 2003. Thus is realized, to use the expression of the US Chiefs of Staff adopted in 2001, the remodeling the "Greater Middle East".
So there is no reason for the United States to destroy the Islamic Emirate, if not the publicized - and suspect - death of three of their nationals, which cannot justify the deluge of fire.
While it is clear that the main target of the air campaign is not the one that is announced, no one is able to say precisely what it seeks to destroy. The most that can be said is that the United States and its GCC allies bombed empty buildings in Rakka - which had been evacuated two days earlier by the Islamic Emirate, and a dozen refineries in eastern Syria.

Bombing of a Syrian refinery by the US Air Force, September 24, 2014. Refineries are among the most expensive industrial investments.

So what do these refineries signify in a war allegedly waged against terrorism? According to the Pentagon, they were controlled by the Islamic Emirate and brought it much income.
The answer is obviously false. When states under embargo try to sell gas or oil on the international market, they do not succeed. But the Islamic Emirate does, despite resolutions 1373 (2001) and 2170 (2014) of the Security Council. Publicly notorious, it steals oil in Iraq and Syria, routing it by pipeline to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, from where it is transported to Israel by tankers of the Palmali Shipping & Agency JSC, the Turkish-Azeri company of billionaire Mubariz Gurbanoğlu. At the port of Ashkelon, Israeli authorities provide false certificates of origin from Eilat, then they are exported to the European Union, which pretends to believe they’re Israeli.
Above all, the same firm serving also to export gas and oil stolen by the local government of Iraqi Kurdistan, the United States and the GCC, if they acted pursuant to resolutions 1373 (2001) and 2170 (2014) should also attack Iraqi Kurdistan. Instead, they support it (not against the Islamic Emirate, but against the central government in Baghdad). [6]
The bombing of these facilities cannot be understood as other than a desire to deprive Syria of its refining capacity when peace returns.
It is common knowledge that in this case, the United States relies on members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and particularly Saudi Arabia. In this regard, if it is clear that Saudi planes are not taking off from their country, information published by Iranian media according to which they are based in Israel, is still not ruled out, but probable.
We have often noted that one of the main aims of the war against Syria is the control of its gigantic reserves of natural gas and that of its territory by which could either pass a pipeline from Iran or its rival, Saudi Arabia from Qatar.
However, since the resistance of Novorussia and support provided by the Russian Federation, the European Union is trying to overcome its dependence on Russian gas. Hence the Iranian government’s idea to offer its gas on this market, as announced by Deputy Oil Minister Ali Majedi, August 9. [7] For Iran it would be an alternative to the blocking by the Islamic Emirate of Iraq’s road to Syria.
This option, which defends Iran state interests, but abandons the anti-imperialist struggle of President Ahmadinejad, could be approved by Washington as part of a broader agreement during the 5 + 1 negociations. Iran would be willing to abandon its groundbreaking research on a method for producing nuclear energy able to free the third world from its dependence on oil energy, while "Westerners" would lift their sanctions.
However, this changeover, if it is to occur, would significantly alter regional equilibrium. It would be hard to sell to Russia, which has just welcomed Iran into the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In addition, it would involve an investment of $ 8.5 billion to build 1,800 miles of pipeline and connect production fields to the Nabucco system. Iranian gas would transit through Azerbaijan and Turkey and Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, to be distributed in the European Union from Austria. This was confirmed by Sheikh Hassan Rohani to President Hans Fischer, on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the United Nations. [8]
The revival of the Nabucco system would be a boon to Azerbaijan which could more easily export production from its Shah Deniz gas field. Thus, Baku would also move away from Moscow to be closer to Washington, which would explain the sudden purchase of arms from Israel.
From the Syrian perspective, a shift in Iranian energy policy is not necessarily a bad thing: most of the enemies of Syria - except Israel - would have no reason to continue the war. In addition, the removal of Iran would strengthen the usefulness of Syria to Russia. If the agreement were signed, Washington would further pursue instability in the Sunni areas of Iraq, to maintain a physical separation between Tehran and Damascus, and certainly would support Daesh in Deir ez-Zor, but leave the rest of the Syria in peace.

Veteran UN negotiator: World body outdated, hasn’t solved a single conflict since 1992
In the 21st century, terrorism has become the new reality. What has for a long time been seen as something going on far, far away, has now knocked at the doors of everyone in the world. No country in the Americas, Europe or Asia, or any other corner of the world is safe. Hostage situations and terrorist attacks are everyday occurrences on the news. Powerful terrorist groups even compete for the amount of horror they create in the world. Is there a place now for diplomacy? Could negotiations save lives? And what does it mean to be a negotiator in the heart of conflict? We ask these questions to a veteran UN negotiator and former UN Assistant Secretary-General. Giandomenico Picco is on Sophie&Co today.

Sophie Shevarnadze: Giandomenico Picco, negotiator, former UN Assistant Secretary-General, welcome to the show, it’s really great to have you with us. Now, you’ve been a UN negotiator for more than 2 decades, putting your life on the line to do your job. You’ve said yourself it’s not something that can be taught at the university. So, how do you learn the skills you need?
[...] SS: But it’s so funny, because what they teach in diplomacy is that not taking one side or the other is crucial in the negotiations, no?
GP: Nobody will believe you if you say “don’t take sides”, because the only way not to take sides is to be dead. You see, there’s one thing… as you know, president Saddam Hussein did not love me, in fact he tried to kill me a few times, but we agreed on one thing - he said to me, and we agreed, that, of course, impartiality is a game, it’s nothing, it doesn’t exist, and we agreed on that. He knew it very well. He said: “you are the first westerner against me” - I was - but I ended war, no other people. Together, with help of the bankers, not negotiators, not diplomats - the bankers. The Iran-Iraq war, contrary to what has been written by those who was not present - I was - was ended with bankers, not with institutions, not with diplomats, not with foreign affairs ministries or whatever, with bankers. Every case is different, impartiality does not exist, never did, and I never believed in it, and I dealt with few conflicts, not in too shabby way, including, as you know, the Afghanistan first war in 80s together with two very-very good colleagues. The Iran-Iraq war was a very personal, as other things which I could tell you. Especially, after the change of the world in 1992, when the bipolar system changed, impartiality is even a less of an issue. I never use this concept anymore, because it’s buried in history, and it was used in history by some specifically Western countries; it was of no significance, it was done for domestic reasons.

Bilderberg - The Mafia's International Policy Makers
Who are the powerful secret society known as the Bilderberg group - and are they run by lizards?
November 2014 By MKWeb
Bilderberg: Who are they and what do they do?
Is this the most powerful organisation in the world? Are they run by lizards as some conspiracy theorists believe?
The Bilderburg is an elite group of billionaires, bankers and influential politicians from across Europe and America. It is claimed they secretly decide the fate of the world behind closed doors and conspiracy theorists believe it is the shadow government of the world.
Now in its’ 60th year, rumours are more rife than ever. But how true are these claims?

The EC and later the EU parliament and E. Commission together with the euro were Bilderberg creations. The destruction of Libya and assassination of Gadaffi and most of his family were sanctioned by Bilderberg and implemented by NATO. No doubt the various fields of conflict, destruction of nations and murder of leaders were implemented by NATO and its terrorists, W. secret services and Mossad.

Re: Bilderberg - The Mafia's International Policy Makers
Close the secret services and defund NATO as they work against the public's best interests even to the point of carrying out false flags where innocents are murdered. Charlie being a prime example. Others that come to mind, 9/11, 7/7, Boston Marathon, Sandy Hook etc.
NATO and secret services run terrorists never target Israel, Bilderberg members, NATO admin, Israel first gov'ts like the US, Canada, EC, France, UK, Germany, Australia, Saudi, Jordan etc. nor their entourage such as the Red Cross and think tanks.

CIA whistleblower Jeffrey Sterling found guilty on all counts
A jury found former CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling guilty of all charges against him under the Espionage Act. The government accused Sterling of illegally revealing classified information about a mission and thus putting American lives in danger.
Sterling was charged under the Espionage Act for disclosing classified information about a mission meant to slow Iran’s nuclear program to New York Times reporter James Risen, who then wrote about the CIA’s Iranian plot in his 2006 book, “State of War.” The plan’s goal was to learn more about the country’s controversial nuclear program and impair its progress, and the schematics were reportedly funneled to the Iranians via a Russian scientist with the codename “Merlin.”
Risen was also critical of the plan in his book, saying it could have inadvertently helped Iran if they were able to identify what was wrong with the blueprints. Prosecutor Eric Olshan argued in court that these criticisms matched up with Sterling’s own view of the mission, and portrayed the CIA as unresponsive to potential risks.
“The only person who comes out smelling like roses in Mr. Risen's telling is Jeffrey Sterling,” Olshan said.
The former CIA officer, who was fired in the early 2000s, was convicted of nine counts of unauthorized disclosure of national defense information and other related charges. US District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema allowed Sterling to remain free on bond until his April 24 sentencing.

ISIS grand plan: Bribe Putin for Iran’s nuclear secrets
October 06, 2014
An alleged policy plan of the Islamic State outlines some chilling, if unrealistic, plots of the would-be terrorist state, including bribing Russia with access to oilfields in exchange for nuclear technology, and digging a canal across the UAE.
The document reported by Britain’s Sunday Times is believed to have been written by Abdullah Ahmed Meshedani, a member of the highly secretive six-man war cabinet of the terrorist group, which wants to build an Islamist state, or caliphate, in parts of Iraq and Syria.
It was captured by Iraqi special forces during a March raid on the home of a senior Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) member and confirmed as authentic by Western security officials.
The 70-point plan provides an insight into the grandiose, if somewhat far-fetched, strategy aimed at undermining Shiites in the Arab world and Iran as that branch of Islam’s powerhouse nation.
One of the goals listed in the documents is to offer Russia access to oilfields in Iraq’s Anbar province in exchange for Moscow severing ties with Tehran and sharing secret nuclear technology known to Iran with the IS.
[...] In the long run, the IS wants Sunnis from Pakistan and Syria to migrate to lands with mixed Sunni-Shiite populations, “marry early and have many children,” who would become the core of a future extermination campaign to wipe out Shiites in the Gulf.
The IS “are not focused on merely supporting themselves with ransom activities and oil theft, they know that in order to survive they have to generate income in legitimate ways,” Veryan Khan, director of Terrorism Research & Analysis Consortium, a US-based terrorism monitoring group, told the Sunday Times.
“I am convinced this was passed out among senior personnel of Islamic State,” she added. “To fully explain a 100-year plan is completely unique — they are proving that they are visionaries to the rest of the senior staff.”

Investment Bankster Fraud
There’s something fishy going on in the gold market June 2014
By Bengt Saelensminde
In January, the contrarian investor in me won out: I decided to buy into gold miners.
[...] Now, bear in mind that the physical gold market (dealing in wholesale bullion delivery) is tiny in relation its paper-based cousin (futures, options, leveraged trades, collateralised obligations, ETFs, etc).
In fact, it’s estimated that the paper gold market – which should be a derivative of the physical market – is actually some 100 times larger than the physical market – ie, if everyone holding paper gold ‘stood for delivery’ at the same time, it would be impossible for every party to fulfil their obligations.
The central banks don’t like it
Because the derivative market is so large, paper gold makes physical gold’s market price.
This is a problem for nervous central banks because when prices are perverted in this way, it causes anomalies in the market.
The big one right now is how the gold price seems to be completely out of kilter with underlying demand.
For example, how on earth can China and others be importing such massive amounts of physical gold – and yet the gold price refuses to budge?
All sorts of theories have been posited. One is that major Western central banks have been providing physical supply to balance the books, by leasing gold into the market.
But here’s the rub: this gold may belong to other nations, which is causing anxiety for countries that rely on the Western depositories to store their gold.

A nation's gold is the property of the people. If you gave out 100 pieces of paper that, without permission, have another's house as collateral in return for cash you would go to jail for fraud but because the gov'ts are filled with crooks investment bankers are allowed to continue this fraud against the public to this day.
What is the point of a gov't that permits such frauds?

How Propaganda Conquers Democracy By Nicolas J S Davies
In recent decades, the U.S. propaganda system has grown more and more sophisticated in the art of “perception management,” now enlisting not only government PR specialists but careerist journalists and aspiring bloggers to push deceptions on the public.
By Nicolas J S Davies
Do we live in a country where citizens are critically informed on the issues of the day by media that operate independently of the government? Or do our political leaders deliberately plant a false view of events and issues in the mind of the public that complicit media then broadcast and amplify to generate public consent for government policy?
This is a basic test of democracy for the citizens of any country. But the very nature of modern propaganda systems is that they masquerade as independent while functioning as the opposite, so the question is not as straightforward as it seems.
In Democracy Incorporated; Managed Democracy and the Specter of Inverted Totalitarianism, political scientist Sheldon Wolin examined how America’s “managed democracy” has devolved into “inverted totalitarianism,” concentrating power and wealth in the hands of a small ruling class more efficiently and sustainably than 20th Century “classical totalitarianism” ever succeeded in doing.
Instead of sweeping away the structures of constitutional government like the Fascists, Nazis or Soviets, this “political coming-of-age of corporate power” has more cleverly preserved and co-opted nominally democratic institutions and adapted them to its own purposes.
Self-serving politicians and parties compete for funding in election campaigns run by the advertising industry, to give political investors the most corrupt President, administration and Congress that money can buy, while courts uphold new corporate and plutocratic political rights to ward off challenges to the closed circle of wealth and political power.

Chomsky Blasts 'American Sniper' and the Media that Glorifies It. By Janet Allon
The famed professor draws a disturbing parallel between "Sniper" and our "global assassination program."
WATCH: Chomsky Blasts 'American Sniper' and the Media that Glorifies It
"Alternet" - Noam Chomsky had some choice words about the popularity of "American Sniper," its glowing New York Times review, and what the worship of a movie about a cold-blooded killer says about the American people.
It's not good.
During a Cambridge, Massachusetts event hosted by The Baffler, Chomsky first read the glowing recent review the New York Times gave the movie. That review begins inauspiciously by insulting, “America’s coastal intelligentsia, which has busied itself with chatter over little-seen art dramas while everyday Americans showed up en masse for a patriotic, pro-family picture which broke all attendance records in its opening days.”
So, Chomsky wonders aloud: “What was the patriotic, pro-family film that so entranced everyday Americans? It’s about the most deadly sniper in American history, a guy named Chris Kyle, who claims to have used his skills to have killed several hundred people in Iraq.”
