Cameron, Hague continue helping AQ in Syria
The pretend "Free Syrian Army" is no more than tens or hundreds of disparate mostly islamic groups, many with conflicting ambitions from looting, rape and murder to a sharia law governed society. The "FSA" is in fact led by a Syrian Army deserter, the group oversees distribution of received military aid to favoured groups, probably for a profit. The criminal regimes in the West that are aiding the insurgency have zero control over who gets what. Weapons and other logistics bought with Western public's taxes are without doubt reaching AQ and its associated groups. The "FSA" distributors formally partnered with al Nusra that is a listed terrorist outfit that has formally aligned with AQ. That means the "FSA" is aligned with AQ. All the groups benefitting from the FSA umbrella must also be included. This means that the UK, FR and US regimes, pretending that they are aiding a secular group in arming and funding the "FSA" are in fact helping the disparate groups mentioned and al Nursra. KSA and Qatar have been aiding the known terrorist groups from the get-go. Israel that has been covertly aiding the insurgency looks to be joining the criminal regimes in the West in openly aiding terrorism. What is even more clear is that the different groups are fighting for anything other than democracy.

Washington and its allies continue funding and arming al-Qaeda in Syria
Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Thursday addressed two identical letters to the UN Security Council Chairman and UN Secretary General on the continuation of the US and its Western allies and regional tools to provide funds and arms to al-Qaeda and its offshoots and the rest of the armed terrorist groups in Syria.
The Ministry stressed in its letters that the continued funding, arming, recruiting and sending of terrorists to Syria by the US, France, Britain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar and other countries clearly violates the rules of the international law and the principles governing the international relations and good neighborliness.
It added that these practices are also a violation of the UN Security Council's counter-terrorism resolutions and a blatant breach of Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the UN Charter.

ISIL seizure of Syria's Azaz exposes rebel rifts
Turkey closed a border crossing to Syria after an al Qaeda-linked group stormed a nearby town and expelled opposition fighters from an Arab and Western-backed unit, officials said on Thursday.
Fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) on Wednesday killed at least five members of the Northern Storm Brigade, a rebel unit that controls the border, highlighting the deep opposition divisions.
The confrontation in the town of Azaz was one of the most serious clashes between the al Qaeda affiliate, made up mostly of foreign fighters, and the more ideologically moderate home-grown rebels.
Their struggle, however, is less about ideology and more about a fight for territory, resources and the spoils of war - with armed ISIL fighters positioned to defend the town and a nearby rebel brigade trying to broker a ceasefire.

There have been many instances of clashes between (often foreign to Syria) groups. The clashes are occasionally ideologically based but usually they are about control of an area and its wealth.

And on the CW false flags, the most recent in Ghouta, perpetrated by insurgents:
Bogdanov: Russia may submit Syria's evidence on opposition's CW use to UNSC today
Moscow, The Russian President's Special Envoy to the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said Russia may today submit to the Security Council evidence proving that the "Syrian opposition" used chemical weapons in an attack in al-Ghouta area in Damascus Countryside on August 21.
Speaking to the reporters in Moscow on Thursday, Bogdanov pointed out that the Russian side may pay subsequent visits to Syria for consultation with the Syrian leadership on the various issues of the crisis in the country.
He added that the focus however will be placed on the necessity of launching the political solution process as well as addressing the humanitarian issues.
He also did rule out visits by representatives of the Syrian leadership to Moscow, adding that "the communications with representatives of the Syrian government and the opposition could take place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting."
In an interview with SANA correspondent in Moscow, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister stressed continued coordination and communication with the Syrian leadership to implement the internationally-approved Russian initiative on the chemical weapons on Syria.
[...] On the information which Moscow recently received from Damascus on the use of chemical weapons by the "opposition", the Russian diplomat said "We will study this information through our specialized experts and will immediately convey it to the international Security Council and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)."
Bogdanov however noted that while formulating the final and comprehensive version of the UN report in this regard, it should be taken into consideration that the report would include all the cases and possibilities if the use of chemical weapons or chemical substances on the Syrian land

Syria gets sarin nerve gas from Turkey - report
A number of circumstantial evidence that the chemical weapons attack, considered to be the main reason for a military operation in Syria, was carried out by the Syrian opposition is growing. The US army is reported to have confirmed that nerve gas sarin is in al-Qaeda hands now. It was transported to al-Qaeda through the Turkish territory, and the amount seized during an operation in Adana is just a small part of chemical weapons stored. This information may put Erdogan, who continues blaming Assad, in a difficult position.
Former Pentagon official Michael Maloof wrote in his column on the WND News website that he had obtained a report, confirming that al-Qaeda possesses chemical weapons and uses them. The data in the report contradict insistent statements made by US President Barack Obama that the Assad regime is responsible for the use of chemical weapons.
According to Maloof, the report was prepared by the US army intelligence and he got hold of it via channels in the National Intelligence Center.
The report says that al-Qaeda possesses sarin nerve gas, used for producing chemical weapons, and that it was delivered by the al-Qaeda-linked Salafist group. It was transported through the Turkish territory to the al-Nusra Front which is al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria.

That's quite a rogues' gathering at LD.

Thanks for the links you left to George Galloway. I observed that while he may have had no hard evidence to offer, his conclusions and theories were indeed arrived at by means of logic; while the two ladies had neither evidence nor logic to offer. Still, they did have a great aptitude for being able to repeat the mantras de jour. Do you think there are those who still believe something just coz it's said with a posh accent? The other guest certainly appeared to feel her accent was a mark of her natural superiority and that logic and evidence must therefore be redundant requirements in her case.

Saudis Set Back by US-Russia Deal on Syrian Chemical Weapons
By: Madawi Al-Rasheed
Saudi Arabia miscalculated the ease with which US-led Western powers could quickly organize a military strike on Syria following the now-confirmed chemical attack of Aug. 21. The push for a quick strike stumbled in Washington, London and Paris, giving way to high-level diplomacy between the United States and Russia and disappointment in Saudi Arabia. The US-Russian framework for the elimination of Syria's chemical arsenal appears to be a deviation from Riyadh’s immediate objectives. By focusing on the sole objective of removing the Bashar al-Assad regime from power, the Saudi leadership may have overlooked that despite having important resources and weight, regional powers like itself can today be constrained by the changing international environment.
In Jiddah on Sept. 16, Crown Prince Salman Ibn Abdul Aziz presided over the Council of Ministers and warned the international community against reducing the Syrian crisis to the issue of chemical weapons. In anticipation of a UN Security Council meeting on Sept. 18 to discuss the UN report on the Syrians' use of chemical weapons and pass a strong resolution, Salman called on the international community to strengthen the Syrian opposition and protect civilians, reminding it of the urgency of pushing for a new regime in Damascus. Saudi Arabia may soon find itself a spectator on the periphery, watching an international game in which it can only make noise, and possibly trouble, if its objectives cease to be a priority for other, more important international players with their own agendas.
The US-Russian framework unexpectedly eclipsed active Saudi diplomacy of the last weeks, during which it insisted on military intervention in Syria. While the United States continues to stress that this framework does not rule out future military strikes in case of noncompliance, this is simply not enough for Riyadh.
The Saudi leadership’s bewilderment over the changes that have swept the Arab world over the last three years has focused its foreign policy on two main objectives. First is sabotaging any glimpse of a democratic transition that might lead to the rise of new, unpredictable forces in Arab countries and consequently undermine its own grip on power domestically. From the Saudi perspective, any political change threatens to undermine a familiar status quo characterized by political stagnation and repression, defined by the Saudis as stability.
"Change" to the Saudis means unpredictability, chaos and loss of influence in a region that has been dependent on the integration of its failing economy into the Saudi oil empire.

Kerry's claim about Assad's sarin challenged
Kerry's claim about Assad's sarin challenged
WASHINGTON – Although U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said “we know” from what Syrian military unit – and from what hilltop – chemical weapons were fired Aug. 21 into the outskirts of Damascus, Syria, U.S. military sources tell WND otherwise.
At his recent news conference, Kerry suggested the intelligence the Obama administration had could identify precisely the origin of the sarin chemical weapons attack that killed, by one estimate, some 1,429 people, including 400 children.
However, Kerry never revealed what the content of the intelligence was, nor how it was obtained, suggesting a level of vagueness so that even Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded more details.
But they never were revealed, even during a subsequent meeting between Putin and U.S. President Barack Obama two weeks ago at the G20 meeting.
A U.S. military source told WND, however, that there was no intelligence reporting on the Syrian government firing the artillery armed with poison gas.
“We don’t have anything,” he said.
“On 21 August, there was no reporting on Bashar’s boys doing anything,” the U.S. military source said.
In referring to “Bashar’s boys,” the source was referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad
“And there isn’t any up to right this minute, meaning that nobody collected any intelligence via any ‘INT’ that said he was indeed having his troops use the stuff,” the source said.

So it is speculative propaganda designed to fool the public into believing Assad has two horns and a tail rather than the people that control the likes of Obama and Cameron.

Pentagon to train, arm Syria militants
The Pentagon has put forth a proposal for training and arming some members of foreign-backed militants in Syria while the CIA is already training and arming the militants.
The proposal, which was revealed by two Obama administration officials to CNN, would increase the role of the US military in the Syrian conflict and would put US troops in direct contact with militants in the country.
No exact details about the Pentagon’s proposal have been revealed. However, it has been reported that the training is going to take place in a country near Syria.
“We have any number of options under development that could expand our support to the moderate opposition, but no decision has been taken at this point,” Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey told reporters on Wednesday when asked about the proposal.
Although it has never been directly acknowledged by the US government, the CIA has been training and arming militants in Syria.
Earlier this month, The Washington Post reported that the CIA has begun delivering weapons to US-backed militants in the Middle Eastern country.
With the CIA in charge of training and arming militants, Washington could keep the details of the operations secret. However, any plans by the Pentagon to conduct operations that would either replace or add to the CIA’s operations require more transparency on the part of the US government.

Obama wants to commit his criminal acts openly. It is illegal to support either side in an internal conflict and the Syrian government has been careful to keep it inside the borders, making all actions by the US UK FR KSA QA TR IL to help the terrorists and insurgents inside Syria acts of international law breaking. We have outlaws in charge of our countries. Collusion with the justice system through freemasonry permits this. The justice system is perhaps guilty of the greater crime in permitting outlaw actions by leaders such as Cameron and Obama pass unchallenged.

Israel’s Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Weapons Threaten World Peace
by Stephen Lendman – SteveLendmanBlog
Syria threatens no one. It hasn’t used chemical weapons against insurgents or its own civilians. Claims otherwise are fabricated.
In contrast, Israel is nuclear armed and dangerous. It maintains large chemical and biological weapons arsenals. More on that below.
In 1986, Dimona nuclear technician/heroic whistleblower Mordechai Vananu revealed important documents, photos, and other scientific evidence.
They proved Israel began producing atomic weapons since at least the 1960s. Years later, thermonuclear warheads were manufactured.
It’s believed Israel’s arsenal includes hundreds it won’t admit to publicly. It’s missile capability can deliver them long range. So can its nuclear submarines.
Vananu revealed Israel’s nuclear program. He provided credible evidence. Doing so cost him dearly.
In 1986, Mossad agents lured him to Rome. They beat, drugged and kidnapped him. He was secretly tried. He was convicted on espionage and treason charges.
He got 18 years in prison. He spent much of it in brutalizing solitary confinement. He suffered cruel and barbaric treatment.
After release, he was imprisoned again. It was for speaking to foreign journalists. Daniel Ellsberg calls him “the preeminent hero of the nuclear era.”
Vananu said “I am neither a traitor nor a spy. I only wanted the world to know what was happening.” People everywhere have a right to know.
Vanunu’s prohibited from leaving Israel. His fundamental rights are denied. He received numerous Nobel Peace Prize nominations.
Israel denies him freedom. It’s for doing the right thing. He, Edward Snowden, Bradley Manning, and other heroic whistleblowers deserve universal acclaim.
Instead they’re ruthlessly vilified, hounded and punished when apprehended. Snowden’s free in Russia. He’s unable to go home. He fears for his safety.
No matter how secure he is in Russia or elsewhere, he’s threatened for the rest of his life. “There’s no saving me,” he says. It’s for good reason.
Perhaps Mossad will try to abduct him. It wouldn’t surprise if it attempts replicating how it entrapped Vanunu. Rogue agencies operate this way.
CIA, NSA, Mossad and Israel’s secretive Unit 8200 perhaps are the worst. They operate extrajudicially. They make their own rules. They’ve done it throughout their history. Returning Snowden to America very much is US policy.
Israel won’t discuss its weapons of mass destruction. It never signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
[...] In 1993, the US Congress Office of Technology Assessment WMD proliferation assessment said Israel has undeclared offensive chemical warfare capabilities.
It uses banned weapons in all its conflicts. They include chemical, biological, and radiological ones. Hideous new weapons are tested. Injuries never seen before are reported.
Bodies with dead tissue showed no apparent wounds. Corpses were found shrunken. Civilians had heavy lower limb damage. Amputations were required.
Internal wounds had no trace of shrapnel. Corpses were blackened. They weren’t burned. Some badly wounded victims didn’t bleed. Explosives containing toxins and radiological materials are used.
They burn and destroy bodies. They do so internally. They leave permanent deformations. Unknown toxins believed to be nerve gas is used. So is white phosphorous. It burns flesh to the bone.
Depleted and enriched uranium weapons spread radioactive contamination. Close-range explosives cause severe injuries. Victims lose legs. Abdomens are sliced open. Some people are too far gone to be saved.
The Israeli Institute for Biological Research (IIBR) is top secret. Hundreds of scientists and technicians develop chemical and biological weapons. They’re used in combat.
Recommended. Much more http://www.sjlendman.blogspot.ie/2013/09/israels-nuclear-chemical-and-biological.html

US Sponsored Rebel Forces Have Taken Control of Maalula: Snipers Haunt Syrian Christian Town
MAALULA, Syria: “Maalula, city of culture and history, welcomes you,” reads a sign at the entrance to Syria’s best known Christian town. But any semblance of welcome evaporates once inside Maalula.
The army is fighting an invisible enemy, and an AFP team narrowly escaped sniper fire.
“We never see them, but we hear the shots fired by their Dragunovs,” the Russians’ favourite sniper rifle, said a soldier holding his weapon as he sheltered behind a wall.
A car is parked at the roadside, its windscreen has exploded and its driver looks dead. His belongings lie strewn on the pavement of this ghost town.
After an AFP photographer crossed one of Maalula’s streets, a sniper opened fire at the journalist. Bullets landed just metres (yards) away.
The journalist was forced to lie on the ground and hide behind a wall to escape the shots.
Every time he tried to move, the sniper opened fire immediately.
It was only as loyalist soldiers fired their own guns in the sniper’s direction that the journalist managed to escape.
An armoured vehicle arrived at the scene and opened fire, allowing the journalist to escape.
The soldier said: “It’s like this every day. We can only move without fear of sniping during the evenings.”
Maalula is nestled under a large cliff, whose summit is controlled by the rebels, making it difficult for the army to secure its grip there.
The town is strategically important for rebels, who are trying to tighten their grip on Damascus and already have bases circling the capital.
The army has “reclaimed most of the town, but the terrorists use their snipers to stop us from bringing it totally under control”, said a colonel who leads the loyalists’ operations in the historic town.
“We are continuing to make slow progress. But it is very difficult because we cannot bombard it, there are historic treasures,” the colonel told AFP.
Maalula’s population of up to 5,000 fluctuates throughout the year, with Christian families flocking there each summer from Damascus and abroad.
While the majority of its winter residents are Muslim, the town is majority Christian in summer.

Canada’s Use of Chemical Weapons
By Yves Engler
Somewhere in the Lester B. Pearson Building, Canada’s foreign affairs headquarters, must be a meeting room with the inscription “The World Should Do as We Say, Not As We Do” or perhaps “Hypocrites ‘R Us.”
With the Obama administration beating the war drums, Canadian officials are demanding a response to the Syrian regime’s alleged use of the chemical weapon sarin.
Last week Prime Minister Stephen Harper claimed “if it is not countered, it will constitute a precedent that we think is very dangerous for humanity in the long term” while for his part Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird declared: “If it doesn’t get a response it’s an open invitation for people, for Assad in Syria, or elsewhere to use these types of weapons that they’ve by and large refrained from doing since the First World War.” The Conservatives also signed Canada onto a White House statement claiming: “The international norm against the use of chemical weapons is longstanding and universal.”
While one may wish this were the case, it’s not. In fact, Canada has repeatedly been complicit with the use of chemical weapons.
During the war in Afghanistan, Canadian troops used white phosphorus, which is a chemical agent that can cause deep tissue burning and death when inhaled or ingested in significant amounts. In an October 2008 letter to theToronto Star, Corporal Paul Demetrick, a Canadian reservist, claimed Canadian forces used white phosphorus as a weapon against “enemy-occupied” vineyards. General Rick Hillier, former chief of the Canadian defence staff, confirmed the use of this defoliant. Discussing the difficulties of fighting the Taliban in areas with 10-foot tall marijuana plants, the general said: “We tried burning them with white phosphorous — it didn’t work.” After accusations surfaced of western forces (and the Taliban) harming civilians with white phosphorus munitions the Afghan government launched an investigation.
In a much more aggressive use of this chemical, Israeli forces fired white phosphorus shells during its January 2009 Operation Cast Lead that left some 1,400 Palestinians dead. Ottawa cheered on this 22-day onslaught against Gaza and the Conservatives have failed to criticize Israel for refusing to ratify the Chemical Weapons Convention and Biological Weapons Convention. (Editor’s note: white phosphorous and Agent Orange are not considered chemical weapons by the Chemical Weapons Convention)
For decades the massive Suffield Base in Alberta was one of the largest chemical and biological weapons research centres in the world. A 1989 Peace Magazine article explained, “For almost 50 years, scientists from the Department of National Defence have been as busy as beavers expanding their knowledge of, and testing agents for, chemical and biological warfare (CBW) in southern Alberta.”
Initially led by Canadian and British scientists/soldiers, gradually the US military played a bigger role in the chemical weapons research at Suffield. A chemical warfare school began there in 1942 and it came to light that in 1966 US Air Force jets sprayed biological weapons simulants over Suffield to figure out how best to spray potentially fatal diseases on people. Until at least 1989 there were significant quantities of toxins, including sarin, stockpiled at the Alberta base. In 2006 former Canadian soldiers who claim to have been poisoned at Suffield launched a class action lawsuit against the Department of National Defense.

The US regime is responsible for instigating and escalating the Syrian insurgency
“The Salvador Option For Syria”: US-NATO Sponsored Death Squads Integrate “Opposition Forces”
[...] Chronology of the Syria “Protest Movement”
US Ambassador Robert S. Ford was dispatched to Damascus in late January 2011 at the height of the protest movement in Egypt. (The author was in Damascus on January 27, 2011 when Washington’s Envoy presented his credentials to the Al Assad government).
At the outset of my stay to Syria in January 2011, I reflected on the significance of this diplomatic appointment and the role it might play in a covert process of political destabilization. I did not, however, foresee that this destabilization agenda would be implemented within less than two months following the instatement of Robert S. Ford as US Ambassador to Syria.
The reinstatement of a US ambassador in Damascus, but more specifically the choice of Robert S. Ford as US ambassador, bears a direct relationship to the onset of the insurgency integrated by death squads in mid-March 2011 (in the southern border city of Daraa) against the government of Bashar al Assad.
Robert S. Ford was the man for the job. As “Number Two” at the US embassy in Baghdad (2004-2005) under the helm of Ambassador John D. Negroponte, he played a key role in implementing the Pentagon’s “Iraq Salvador Option”. The latter consisted in supporting Iraqi death squads and paramilitary forces modelled on the experience of Central America.

Write to Your MP and ask them to support a national investigation into child abuse cover-ups
I ask everyone to send a copy of the ‘Open letter to David Cameron’ to their MP with a personal message.
Send via this website: http://www.writetothem.com/
Send a message in your own words, or if you’re pressed for time you could use this draft email template below.
Please contact me when your MP has replied so their responses can be collated.
Dear [my MP]
I call your attention to an open letter to David Cameron (below) which seeks to expose child abuse – both historic and current.
Whilst the letter is addressed to the Prime Minister, I look to all Members of Parliament to put pressure on the Cabinet and those in governmental office to demand investigation of all paedophiles – no matter of their standing in society or high office.
As my MP, I trust you to represent me on this matter and assist in exposing these horrendous crimes.
Do you support the request, summed up in the final paragraph of the open letter, for an independent inquiry and an immediate national police investigation?
Yours sincerely,
[your name]

Dear Mr. Cameron
On the very day, 24th October 2012, that Tom Watson asked you a PMQ re. the possibility of a link between a very large and highly organised paedophile ring and No 10, you made a number of quotes to the mainstream media.
You were in fact referring to the Savile/BBC/NHS scandal.
I made a note of some of those quotes :-
”The Government will do all it can do, other institutions must do what they can do, to make sure that we learn the lesson of this and it can NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN”
“Collusion should NEVER happen again ”
”The measure of how our society is, is how we treat its most vulnerable members”
There are no more vulnerable members of our society than children who have been taken in to care and then re-abused by the very people charged with the responsibility of caring for them and protecting them, and even worse then passing them on to be further abused by the very people who make the laws in this country and are expected to lead the way on the moral compass of that society.
I have no doubt that you have watched or been made aware of Channel 4's Dispatches on 12th September and the allegations that arose from it regarding the role of senior politicians, the security services and the Crown Prosecution Service in covering up the horrendous abuse carried out by Cyril Smith over 5 decades. The overlap with Savile in terms of who knew about this abuse were laid bare.
I also have no doubt that you are aware that your colleagues in your party, Edwina Currie,Gyles Brandreth and Rod Richards have made very damning statements of how well known in Westminster circles it was that Peter Morrison was a dangerous paedophile, and yet his career was unaffected as he rose to be Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party, Mrs. Thatcher’s PPS in 1990 and her campaign manager that same year despite this knowledge having been around for many years.
I also have no doubt that you are aware of the statement of Tim Fortescue,Edward Heath’s Chief Whip from 1970-73, made public on Michael Cockerell’s BBC Documentary in 1995 called “Westminster’s Secret Service “.
Talking about the role of the chief whip, Fortescue said ” For anyone with any sense who was in trouble would come to the whips and tell them the truth ………….. it might be erm erm a scandal involving small boys ……….. we would do everything we can because we would store up brownie points ……. and if I mean, that sounds a pretty, pretty nasty reason, but it’s one of the reasons because if we could get a chap out of trouble then,he will do as we ask forever more.”

Sour over Syria: American senators attack Russian banks
In cold war style, US Senators have urged the Obama administration to freeze assets of three major Russian banks, ban their activities in the US, and deny employees’ entry into the country on the suspicion they are doing business with the Assad regime.
Having failed to galvanize allies for military action, and politically trumped by President Putin’s proposal for peaceful intervention in Syria, American congressmen have now turned to soft power to regain a grip on the Syria conflict. The senators are blaming Russia’s banking giants VTB, Gazprombank, and Vnesheconombank -the state development bank known as VEB– for ‘undermining’ UN sanctions by ‘aiding Assad’.
“The Syrians could not conduct this war without Russian financing,” Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat who represents the state of Connecticut, said at a US policy meeting on Iran and Syria at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington DC.
“We can freeze their assets. We can stop them from doing business in the United States, prevent their employees from traveling here and, in effect, impose very heavy financial pain on the Russians,” Blumenthal said.
The letter accuses VTB of holding President Assad's personal accounts, VEB for facilitating Syrian payments for S-300 missile systems, and Russia’s third largest lender Gazprombank for making payments on crude oil. The senators believe these institutions should be ‘barred from the US financial system’.
Blumenthal’s call to ‘swiftly designate’ Russia’s big banks is based on ‘numerous reports’ one which Reuters published on August 29. The Reuters report cited a source in the Russian defense industry that said Assad had started payments on a $1 billion contract for S-300 anti-missile defense systems as well as a $500 million order for 36 Yak-130 fighter planes. The source said the first down payment of 20 percent was already complete.
Syria’s central bank held foreign currency accounts with the three banks, Reuters’ reported, citing a local Syrian newspaper article dated 2011.
'Completely unfounded'
VTB issued a statement in response to the senators’ allegations, stating their bank has no business with President Assad or Syrian leadership.
“We consider these allegations to be a deliberate attempt to mislead the American people. These irresponsible insinuations are clearly intended to ratchet up tensions around Syria's economic and financial situation,” the statement said.
VTB president Andrey Kostin has repeatedly warned against the economic havoc the Syria conflict could wreak on the Russian, and global economy, with a spike in oil prices.

Are these fools attempting to force the Russians to dump their dollar holdings? All they have to do is buy tangible assets from the West like gold and silver.

Syrian govt says civil war has reached stalemate
[...] Differences remain between Russia and the US over who should take part in Geneva-2. The US wants the Western-backed Syrian National Coalition (SNC) to drop its boycott of the talks and be the only opposition delegation at the conference. The SNC is calling on Assad to step down and previously stated that the demand is non-negotiable.
Russia has proposed that a combined delegation of Kurds should also be present at Geneva-2.
But Jamil said that outside powers must stop trying to influence the outcome of events in Syria.
He said that the Syrian government would be pushing to “end external intervention, a ceasefire and the launching of a peaceful political process in a way that the Syrian people can enjoy self-determination without outside intervention and in a democratic way.”
Jamil is the leader of the secular People’s Will Party and co-chair of the Popular Front for Change and Liberation. He was appointed last year to end the monopoly of the ruling Ba’ath party in the Syrian government.
“We wanted to give a lesson to both sides to prepare for a government of national unity and break the unilateral aspect of the regime – and break the fear in opposition circles of sitting in front of the regime,” he said.
He added that Western countries need to step away in order for change to develop in Syria.
“For all practical purposes the regime in its previous form has ended. In order to realize our progressive reforms we need the West and all those who are involved in Syria to get off our shoulders," he said.

The IDF, AIPAC and Syria
[Gilad] noted that, “Israel must not intervene in what is happening in Syria. If we intervene, it will grant longevity to [Bashar al-]Assad’s regime and unite the rest around him.”
At the exact same time, another experienced and long-standing diplomatic source attacked the attempts to activate AIPAC, Israel’s judgment-day weapon in Washington, as part of President Barack Obama’s efforts to convince Congress of the urgency of a strike on Syria. This source is an expert regarding the entire historical background of Israeli-US relations. He criticized the excessive involvement of the Jewish lobby (in the name of Israel) in Washington with everything connected to the internal American debate regarding Syria.
“It is not wise, it is not correct, it is excessive,” said the diplomatic source, “Israel is too often viewed as a country that drags the United States into conflicts and wars. Such a modus operandi should only be employed when we have no choice, and only with regards to a strategic issue that is vital to the very existence of Israel. The fate of the Syrian regime is no such issue.” He added, “No one really knows whether life in the Middle East after Assad will be better than before, whether the border in the Golan Heights will remain as quiet as before, and what will be the fate of the axis of evil. The conflict in Syria is a war between Hezbollah and al-Qaeda, between Sunni extremists and Shiites, between very evil and more evil. Thus it is not really clear who are the good guys there, relatively speaking.
“Israel’s image has already been tarnished and harmed by AIPAC’s deep involvement in convincing the American administration to invade Iraq, a pointless invasion that caused strategic damage to the entire world. AIPAC must be kept for consensus issues only.

Thus removing any doubt that AIPAC is an Israeli regime tool
